Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

No - that's not a joke.

With both Kevin Love (broken hand) and Al Jefferson (Flu) out, Oleksiy started his second straight game at Center for the Timberwolves.

He looks like he's taking advantage of the opportunity. In 32 minutes he scored 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting (2-2 from 3-point) and had 10 rebounds.

Get buckets son!

Wait, you mean this was Pech? Holy smokes.

At least he stayed consistent by not getting any assists.

Yeah – I had to actually read the recap to be sure the Timberwolves didn’t pick up another player named Pecherov….

He may actually get playing time this year… Even if Kevin Love returns, and with Al Jefferson healthy; the Wolves are thin up front. They traded Etan Thomas to the Thunder (and they’re considering him as their starting Center). Ryan Hollins is a stiff. Brian Cardinal is….. well, he’s Brian Cardinal.

Pecherov can play both the PF and Center positions – and I actually see him as the primary back up to both Love and Jefferson this year. With some playing time, and the right system (NOT the Princeton), Pech might do alright.

Go Pech!

And thanks for trading him out of the East Ernie. No hard feelings here.

As bwoods will tell you

+ / – is not a good measuring stick for an individual game…. much better at measuring effectiveness over a larger data set….

If you look at the 1st quarter for instance… Pecherov played until about 3 minutes left in the quarter… he went 3-4 with a 3-pointer for 7 points (with 3 rebounds) – The rest of his team shot 3-9 and had 3 turn overs.

Meanwhile, the Wolves couldn’t contain Hamilton, Villanueva and Stuckey – who went a combined 6-9 and 16 points. While Pecherov’s man (Wilcox) had one shot… (which he made)…

During that stretch, Pech had a -4, but he was the one keeping the Wolves from being blown out.
