Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I have a quick post (and video) about Arenas speaking at today's practice, making blanket statements about the media being "lazy", at Truth About It.

Michael Lee and Mike Jones also have posts up at Wizards Insider and Wizards Outlet respectively.

Looking back, I wish I'd asked Arenas a couple of questions ... but figured that he would just be giving 'ho-hum' answers, and overall, just didn't really care to "bother" him ... opting to let the two Mike's do all the talking instead.

Oh well ... that Gilbert Arenas fellow, he's an interesting/funny dude.

He tried really hard to be boring, but I found this really juicy

Twist that dagger, Gilbert:

The Wizards face Eddie Jordan and the 76ers on Tuesday, but Arenas isn’t concerned with facing his old coach.

"Not really," He said. “I know his offense almost better than he do. I’m not really worried about them. To be honest, we’ve got to play Atlanta first, and it’s still preseason. Who really cares about preseason? It’s about getting your rhythm, and then when the season starts we’ll worry about every team we face.”

It was ...

It certainly caused the most snickers amongst the surrounding audience.

I actually really want you guys (Mike, Jake, Truth) to get the chance to interact with him more

Obviously he’s pissed at the capital M Media, but shouldn’t he still want to help out people like you all who are fans and not as interested in just making blanket statements to sell papers? I mean, I know that all of the bloggers are being treated as objective journalists and that all of you are pretty objective, but I somehow doubt that Bullets Forever and TruthAboutIt.net came about as simply a result of your love of journalism, with no real love one way or the other for the Wizards. If anything, Gilbert should be giving you all exclusives or at least the good quotes.

By the way, am I the only person scared/intrigued by this new attitude? Between the meanness and the grown out hair, Gil’s coming across as absurdly intense, almost like Vince Carter at the 2000 Olympics.

Gil’s coming across as absurdly intense

only to the Media…. In Practice and with his teammates he’s apparently still the ‘old’ Gil ….

I’ve tried drafting Arenas in all my fantasy basketball leagues, could get him in 1 of the 2 so far. All the Arenas haters can hate, I’m expecting Hibachi to light it up this year. Jeuh!

Aw.

He sounds so sad in the interview. Poor little guy.

He needs to get off to a good start in the regular season...

and so do the Wizards. Obviously, he knows what is at stake and has to have a degree of uncertainty about what it will be like when it counts.

Once he leads the team to a couple of good wins, I suspect he will open up a bit.
