Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

"Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced that an MRI performed today showed that forward Antawn Jamison suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder. He will miss the remainder of the Wizards’ preseason games (Oct. 19 at Atlanta, Oct. 20 at Philadelphia and Oct. 23 at Chicago) and will be re-evaluated next week after the inflammation subsides."

Shoulder subluxation is defined as a partial or incomplete dislocation….

Good news is that if there’s no tissue damage to the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, he won’t need surgery; and the recovery time should be short (weeks, not months)….

The injury in and of itself isn't too alarming

it can become a recurring problem leading to surgery in the future. Subluxations/dislocations are much like concussions in that they make you more prone to having them happen again. I’m not too worried though.

sounds like a sprained ankle

only a bit worse.

good news on the whole. he really should get that healed up and strong before he comes back. we don’t want another chris webber-like scenario.

Don't want to be a harbinger

But during the bulls-wolves game tonight, the announcers were talking about how Jamison’s injury is closer to a full separation.

SMH. That means Blatche will be forced to grow up immediately if that is the case.
