Open thread: Regular season game 34 vs. Toronto Raptors

Toronto Raptors at Washington Wizards, Jan 7, 2009 7:00 PM EST

According to Ivan, Andray Blatche is back in the starting lineup and everyone is all square.  Well, I guess that makes the diatribe below seem pretty pointless.

Game's now.  The ultimate sign of disrespect: we've been banished to CSN+ so they can show Maryland-Morgan State on CSN.  Ouch.

GO WIZARDS!

but i guess less people watch the wizards this year because of the bad season
i had to watch a couple of the games online
let’s hope they pull out the win tonight

I can understand doing it for the Caps

But Maryland-Morgan State? Damn

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Yucky start

Where’s the interior play?

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Come on Antawn

You can’t let that happen.

I'm confused, too.

I thought he was a center for Atlanta or something.

I just looked it up, and I was thinking of Solomon Jones. Carry on.

First Quarter Thoughts

- I’m getting the Toronto feed, and the announcers keep cracking jokes about Mike James. Like, every time he touches the ball.

- What was Bosh doing shooting that three?

- I like playing NY and Crittenton together.

- I know they’re pointless shots, but I’d like to see a stat of % of long end-of-half-shots that hit the backboard/miss everything

Jeez

Long rebounds…

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Wow

Nick actually hit a three.

Nice breakdown by Phil C. of the Wizards 3-pt "defense" on Kapono's 3

It looked like Etan failed to come out on the shooter. Send him to the doghouse!

will they break 30 at the half?

ok - butler and jamison

they care. don’t know what happened 1st half last night to caron, but those guys, warts and all, have my respect.
however, i could easily turn on every other player on this team.

with mike james holding onto the ball the whole time

I like how he gave up a 5 on 2 break

to hold for the last shot of the half

Second Quarter Thoughts

- I know Etan’s been relatively productive recently, but how do you let Jake Voskuhl beat you for a rebound?

- This is the first game I’ve watched since I’ve moved, but I kinda miss Buck and Phil. I’m totally clueless as to what was on the Phil-osophy 45. I’m guessing something about rebounding?

- Maybe it’s that I’m watching a video feed online and not CSN, but this is one boring-ass game.

by Jon L on Jan 7, 2009 8:07 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i assure you

it’s not the video feed

Philosophy 45 is awesome

Only because Phil looks so intense when he juggles that basketball.

Oh boy

Eddie’s angry. You won’t like Ed when he’s angry.

It’s so odd that we changed from having Eddie as our coach to having Ed as our coach.

Mike James has forgotten how to shoot threes

Or he was just flukely making them earlier.

he's forcing them just a little -

never looks set to shoot – either dribble dribble shoot,, or his feet aren’t set completely

All star game -

Buck and Phil are talking about whether Caron and Antawn make the all star game by being selected by the coaches. I would think no way given our record. Deshawn is going to be out a few more weeks – he had a epidural shot in his back whatever that is. I don’t know why when I watch crappy wizards games, I can’t change the channel. I think I have a misguided sense of loyalty.

Epidurals

are like a combination muscle relaxant/pain reliever usually given to pregnant ladies duiring childbirth.

I’m sure Truth can find a joke in there somewhere.

Third Quarter Thoughts

All I have is, 16 Raptor turnovers and they’re still leading by 13? Gah.

Nick!

Wow, as bad as we’ve played, we have a game.

Pot calling the kette black, but...

Toronto’s offense down the stretch has been awful. I’m not sure if that us or them.

wiz defense

has held toronto and orlando to pretty good totals.
that’s one way to look at it, i guess

one good thing about tonight

is crittenton – both his minutes, quality of play, and the fact that it means less mike james

New post up

Apparently, Dick Vitale announcing an NBA game is worthy of being the lead story in the NBA section on ESPN.com.

And you wonder why ESPN gets the treatment it does in the blogosphere.

Minutes Watch

Butler played 41 minutes
Jamison played 37 and a half minutes
Mike James played just under 29 minutes
Blatche played 27 and a half minutes
Crittenton played 26 and a half minutes
NY played 24 minutes
Taser played a little under 24 minutes
Songaila played 23 minutes
Thomas played 7 minutes

What the…when did Tapscott start playing the young guys? Did they have a team meeting or something?

by Jon L on Jan 7, 2009 9:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

And how many minutes for...

McGee? Another goose egg? So Tap doesn’t realize the season’s over yet.
