And the company line from Ernie Grunfeld is that Gilbert Arenas is coming back, but the growing sentiment in the locker room that it's not going to happen.
"It doesn't look like anybody's coming back this year," one player said. "Nobody. I don't think so. I'd be surprised."

Right about now -
I need to start tearing myself away from this team and stop watching games to prevent further depression but of course I somehow won’t be able to and will continue to be depressed for the next few month. Such is the lot of being a wizards fan these days. Go ravens.

I watched Greg Monroe for the first time yesterday
And in some of Chad Ford’s lottery projections we are taking him at 4. He absolutely tore Hasheem Thabeet a new one in the win at UConn and he was pretty much the only decent Hoya for a lot of the game against Pittsburgh yesterday (although Blair had a pretty good game against him). I like everything I’ve read and heard about him, but I am not sure I want to see him come out. Part of me wants him to stay because he could help the Hoyas win a national title, which would be great, and that Monroe would be an absolute monster if he had one more year at college. I need to watch more, but I came away thinking Monroe’s ceiling is higher than Griffin’s.

Always
run your thoughts on local products through the “non-bias” filter.
Because they’re local, we can see them more on TV (and in person) and therefore sometimes assign more value to them than they’re actually worth….
But I agree with you that Monroe is a fine player…. just not sure about the ceiling being “higher than Griffin’s” thing.
Griffin and Rubio (if he declares) are the only two impact players in the draft. The only two who have a reasonable shot at becoming an All-Star.
If the Wizards had a shot at either Blake Griffin or Ricky Rubio, but chose Greg Monroe instead, I’d be shocked.

Fair points rook
You are right Monroe isn’t higher than Griffin or Rubio at this point, but I guess I am lured by the talk about his awareness in the post, the ability to distribute, the way he attacks the rim. Griffin certainly is more polished in some of those attributes. I am guessing rook you would be happier with Monroe if the Wiz don’t get Rubio or Griffin, or is Harden your number three choice?

Harden?
Harden is a pretty good catch-and-shoot guy… but has trouble getting his shot to fall off the dribble. He’s not especially big for a SG (6’5"), and he’s not especially athletic. Not a bad defender from what I’ve seen, but Arizona plays so much zone, it’s hard to see if he’d be a good one-on-one defender.
I don’t think he’d be a good fit for the Wizards – besides; I like Nick Young as the SG of the future. He’s big (6’7"), extremely athletic… He can shoot off the dribble, and on the pull-up. He has advanced ball handling moves; and he is improving defensively.
This is not a very deep draft. Once you get past the first two guys, there’s a lot of mediocre talent.
Guys that would, in other years, be drafted in the late 1st or early 2nd round – will be picked in the top 10 in this draft.
NO – If the Wizards can’t get Griffin or Rubio, my suggestion would be to trade the pick – or package it with players to get something in return.

I miss the days
when the injuries happened from the middle to the end of the year…
when the Coach could make a legitimate argument to play the “veterans” because he wanted to win.
when our “veterans” were the best players.
when our center was a strong, 7ft 260 pound anchor of our mediocre defense.
when our defense didn’t matter, because we could outscore everyone.
