The Wizards Are NOT Trading Caron Butler
I admire the people that try to throw out hypothetical trades to land Caron Butler, I really do. But Truth does a great job of laying out why you're just not going to see it happen.

New Jersey wants Caron Butler?
Really? What the hell do they have to offer, and why would they sacrifice 2010 for it?
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Let me answer that with a phone number

How about this one
The Wizards would probably do this trade
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
The first trade I tried in the machine was...
Jamison, Blatche and Songaila
for
Outlaw, Diogu and LaFrentz’s expiring contract.
Don’t really like it for the Wiz, but if we’re going to blow up, why not go down in flames with money and two fairly promising players? (Outlaw much more than Diogu…but that kid showed some glimpses in Golden State and a bit in Indiana)

No Blatche
Under that scenario, we trade the best player and the best prospect of the three. No dice.

I somewhat disagree with Truth here
As my latest post indicates, Butler shouldn’t be an untouchable. We can’t give him away (so the NJ scenario sucks), but if Portland wants to give us a package built around Rudy Fernandez or something, we have to strongly consider it.
I’d strongly consider Butler for Rudy, Outlaw and Frye/Diogu.

Well, I'd prefer not to trade him at all....
But if there were a dream scenario, then maybe.
Don’ think I’d consider Rudy, Outlaw and Frye/Diogu a dream.
But anyone who would want to trade him for a halfway decent prospect and cap space is silly (guess that was the main point of my post)…..because Butler is the type of free-agent we would want to sign. And just because you have cap space, it doesn’t mean you are going to get the free-agent you want.
The market is too much of a gamble in terms of possibly not getting who you want and perhaps over paying for someone you get.

I would trade Jamison...
Honestly his contract is terrible, who gives a long term 4 year deal to a 32 year old. I love his awkward floaters and leadership, and Gilbert really likes him but the contract is going to kill the Wizards for a long time. He’s beaten the age curve for now but he can’t keep this level of play for 4 more years.
Well, I would too
Jamison goes before Butler. Just saying Butler can’t be an untouchable.
