Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

We won in spite of ourselves

Yay for winning.  Yay for Antawn Jamison's big-time hustle play.  Yay for Nick Young's block/jumper combo.  Yay for Mike James rediscovering his shooting touch.  Yay for Caron for hitting the dagger.

Let's enjoy this now.  I just worry we're going to see that five-man unit play more minutes now because it somehow worked tonight.

Then again, with only eight wins on the season, I can't really complain when we actually get one.

This was a LOSS

Why? Because JaVale got 4 minutes. Because Crit got 12 minutes. Because Pech got 0 minutes. Because Caron got 42 minutes. Because James got 36 minutes. Because Antawn got 37 minutes. Because Songaila got 30 minutes, ALMOST ALL OF THEM AT CENTER.

It’s hard to imagine a less effective C than Songaila. But, as Prada pointed out, Tapscott got the W, so he undoubtedly thinks he’s onto something. He still thinks it’s about wins, instead of rebuilding and playing the young guys. Tapscott is, plain and simple, an imbecile. Our young guys aren’t going to get better, because they’re not playing. Ernie won’t know what he has on his team, because they’re not getting a chance to play; thus, he won’t know what moves to make.

So our 3-point shooters got hot at the end, and we won. So What? That proves nothing, but to imbecile Ed, it means everything. LOOK AT DAVID LEE’S LINE. 6-6 shooting, 21 FREAKIN’ REBOUNDS. Songaila was 2-10, and did nothing to slow Lee down. But Taps will surely credit Song’s “veteran savvy” as a key part of the victory.

I hated this game. It was a loss.

Yeah, I agree

It’s good to get a win. When they win, I won’t complain — much.

It was a freak win. That didnt make it feel any less good

But it remains that Tapscott did a terrible job of distributing minutes, especially at the center position.

Something to be said for winning, though

I largely agree with you that A)Tap is way out of his depth and B)this season is about helping the young guys grow. That said, I don’t think we can underestimate the psychological impact that winning can have on a young player’s growth. I think Tap needs to be smacked upside the head for how he’s managed JaVale’s minutes in general, but I also think it’s going to be a long season full of losses, and part of their motivation to play as a team comes from having shared moments of victory to break up game after game of shared disappointment.

No offense, but I find it funny that everyone here thinks Taps is “out of his depth” but we are all so smart. I mean, the guy has been involved in high level basketball since forever. What makes anyone here an expert?

Well jeez, then let's never analyze anything again

What’s the point? They’re all smarter than us, you know.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I guess I see a difference between “I disagree with the coach’s decision” and “the coach is out of his depth”.

But hey, I know what we’re all doing here. It’s a fan’s right to yell, complain, question, etc. I get it.

No offense meant specifically to Dave, BTW.

I’m giving Taps and EG the benefit of the doubt. They are in practice, locker room, sideline etc. I think there are reasons they play and don’t play certain players. If he wants his raw rookie to learn by watching I’ll trust him.

Report from the game

G-Man was wearing a LaBradford Smith jersey tonight. That’s not a joke.

Throwback Zephyr uniforms - bring em back again

This is the second time the Wizards have worn those uniforms… The first time, they also played well – in a 106-104 loss to the LA Lakers. That’s the game the Wizards made a furious comeback in the 4th quarter and Butler just missed a 3-pointer at the end that would have won it.
