Eddie Jordan is becoming a big Dee Brown fan. Loves Brown's quickness, energy, "Chicago toughness" and defensive pressure. This could be Brown's real opportunity. When Eddie trusts a player, that player plays.

Wizards Insider.

I'm excited about this, but I'm also a little scared. We know that Eddie has relied on players that Eddie "trusts" in the past that weren't very productive (Jarvis Hayes, Michael Ruffin, etc.) so hopefully this isn't case here. At least we know that he won't be earning minutes because he's a veteran, so that's a plus.

I'm personally more exicted about Andray

Hearing that he’s having a great camp thus far is making me really excited.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

On the other hand

It’s nice to finally have a change-of-pace PG in camp that can play a little D, and run the Offense….

AD is a great PG, and fits nicely in Eddie’s Princeton Offense – - – but the Wizards have always had trouble with the jitterbug quick guys. Perhaps Brown can provide an answer to those kind of players.

Besides, I always thought a team’s second unit should have a “different feel” from the starting 5. Bring something different to the game.

With Dee Brown, Nick Young, DMac, Blatche and Etan Thomas – you have a very different mix than the starters. I could see those guys running the fast break more than the starters…. I can envision more oops, more spectacular dunks and more athleticism. The Defense could be smothering if Blatche and Thomas can protect the rim….. and if Dominic continues to improve from last year….. and if Nick could bear down a little on D. (He does have the tools to be a good defender; lateral quickness, freakishly long arms, 39.5 inch standing vertical jump, large quick hands, etc…)… That’s a lot of “if’s”….. but isn’t that what training camp is for, for the fans? Unbridled optimism?

I think back to some teams from the past, when Michael Adams and Manute Bol came in with the Second Unit and completely changed the tempo of the game. I think the current version of the Wizards second unit could do the same.

My impression of NY

is that he will never be much of a defender unless he makes an all-out commitment to it. He has way too many lapses in concentration and, as good as his instincts are on the other side of the court, they seem pretty average on defense. I saw him get burned a lot in the summer league – can someone get in his head and convince him to step it up?

Getting buckets since 2003.

I like Dee Brown, I was surprised when Utah let him go. A very capable third string point with the possibility of becoming a good primary backup.
