Chad Ford's ESPN Chat
Akim (Washington DC): What do you think of the Wizards off season? I see a whole of the same, not much improvement, while teams above them are improving.SportsNation Chad Ford: Exactly. It's like everyone there is content to be a 44 win team for the next four to five years.

Akim is good at getting his question answered......
Well, what would Chad Ford propose the Wizards do?
The Chicago Bulls averaged 43 wins per year in the six seasons they made the playoffs before winning a title.
The Rockets averaged 47.5 wins in their 8 years (out of 9) of being in the playoffs before winning back to back titles.
I’m just sayin’

Breaking up your core
in a big trade is the en vogue thing to do these days. Plus, why give the Wiz credit until they advance past the Cavs? It’s not like they have gotten any love from the national media very much in the last decade.

Breaking up your core
Is sexy. It makes highlights on ESPN. They fill up their web site with stories. Sadly, break-ups generally leave the franchise worse off, not better. But don’t tell ESPN that. Happens every year in every sport, the team that makes the biggest splash in the off season are title contenders. Who wants to bet the Browns finish under .500? Seattle was suppose to contend for the W.S. They are contending for worst record in baseball. Don’t believe the hype.

I think we have to accept...
That the Wiz will get no props until they do something. Unless you’re worried that the team believes their own press, then it’s nothing to worry about, and we get to look forward to shocking everyone.
FWIW I like the moves we’ve made, but there’s no sure thing.

I trust Ghostface Ziller in all things
If the Wizards can keep a modicum of defense in tact (the defense, though improved, was still modest last year), the team could easily see its offense carry it to 47-50 wins. That’s not elite, but it’s good.

Agreed.....
I’m predicting 50 wins predicated on health.
