Wizards upcoming season
A bold prediction for the Wizards upcoming season. Gilbert Arenas returns and looks good for a while. Hopefully he won't reinjure his knee. If he doesn't, he'll make it back to the all star game, even though D'wayne Wade will drop 40 on him every time they play Miami. Once again the Wizards will see the Cavaliers in the first, second, or third round of the playoffs. Lebron James will once again have his way with their mattador style defense. Cavs beat em in a close series though 4 games to 3, and we're left with another summer of big free agent names like Ron Artest going to the Rockets instead of the Wizards. Oh yeah, and we'll get a shitty draft pick and select some guy from the Ukraine who won't even be able to play in the NBA for like 2 years. Nonetheless. Go Wizards!

Almost everything
about this post makes me think this was a pointless joke. First of all, the first couple times that the Wizards played the Heat Wade scored only 17 points then scored 12 points the next time against us. The last two meetings between the Wizards and Heat last season Wade was on the inactive list. So, quite obviously Wade scoring 40 against the Wizards doesn’t happen even close to every time they play each other the last two seasons. About us and the Cavs, there is a low chance the Wiz will play the Cavs in the playoffs again and if they do what makes you so sure the Cavs will beat the Wizards again. Last year the Wizards were playing with 1/2 of a Gilbert Arenas and 3/4 of a Caron Butler (and still took them to 6 games). The year before they played with 0 Gilbert and 0 Caron. 06 playoffs the Wizards had a bench filled with nobodys that were just screwing up a lot of things. Now they have a great chance of staying at least relatively healthy for most of the season and their bench isn’t nearly as worthless as it used to be. Third, the Wizards can’t and don’t need to get any big names through trade or free agency until 2010 when they will have expiring contracts and have not since they got Caron Butler. So this is something that will happen til 2010 so I wouldnt suggest being disappointed about it. Finally, I doubt the Wizards will even keep their draft picks next year because of the lux tax situation and they have enough projects anyway. So that is why I thought your post was a joke. Now I have just concluded in my mind that you have no idea what you’re talking about.
By the way, did I give some hint about me thinking the Wizards are going to the Finals this season that I don’t know about?

Bee-Tee-Dub……The definition of fatalism can be found on dictionary.com.
But in all honesty…..all facetiousness aside…..I’m predicting our Wiz to wn 50 games. That is all.

what?
1. Arenas may never again average 29 points, but I’ll bet he’ll be a better player.
2. Dwayne Wade will have to ‘drop 40’ on lots of folks if Miami wants to get out of the cellar.
3. LeBron and the rest of the ‘Redeemers’, will find out how hard it is to play an entire NBA season , AFTER playing for their Country ( just ask Darius Songaila or Yao Ming.)
4. The Cavaliers will be lucky to get 6th seed in the playoffs this year – 45 wins – and will not make it out of the 1st round anyway – thus avoiding a 4th straight match up with the improved Wizards.
5. Stashing a guy overseas for a few years may be JUST what they need to do to ensure their young guys continue to develop (McGee, McGuire, Young, Blatche, etc…)…
6. Philly will take Cleveland’s place in the top 5 in the Conference.
7. Wizards will win 50 games – advance to the 2nd round and get bounced in 6 games by either Boston or Philadelphia.
2008-09 , The Wizards make a move, trading expiring contracts for key pieces – and become NBA Champions.

This was kind of pointless
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I dunno...
I think it’s a perfectly fair set of predictions.
Gil probably will get back to an all star level.
We probably will make it into the playoffs again with a good shot at winning a series or two. Lebron and the Cavs do have our number (even when we were healthy 3 years ago we had no chance of defending him).
We resigned gil and jamison so we won’t be big movers in the free agent market next summer.
We don’t have rights to any draft picks and probably won’t be in the lottery, so in all likelihood we’ll take a flyer on a raw player (a la McGee) who in all likelihood won’t work out.

Call Me Opimistic
So if Gil is back at All Star form, our center has evolved into a top 5 player at his position in the east, we have a greatly improved bench vs. the last few years, two other improved All Stars in the prime of their careers, our backup center is healthy again, and we will still have the same results? The Wiz took the Cavs to 6 games last year without their two best players anywhere near 100%. Give me a healthy Arenas and Butler and the Cavs are in trouble if we meet again. If the team is healthy I like em to win 48-51 games and advance to at least the second round…
