Jason Smith?
"The signing of Elton Brand has left Philadelphia with a bit of a logjam at power forward. With Brand, who has averaged 38.3 minutes in his career, expected to log heavy minutes at the position, incumbents Reggie Evans and Jason Smith will be fighting for the backup minutes.
If Sixers GM Ed Stefanski is looking to trade one (and there have been no indications that he is), Smith has value. The 6-10, 240-pound forward averaged 15.6 points and 8.0 rebounds in a superb summer league. Several scouts were impressed by Smith's improved ability to knock down the mid-range jump shot with regularity.
"He's a starter in this league," an Eastern Conference scout said. "No question."
Smith will make $1.3 million this season, and with team options at $1.4 and $2.2 million the following two years, he is one of the league's best bargains."
This guy had a nice stroke in SL. Just sayin...

You mean Jason Smith, right
We almost drafted him instead of Young in 07. I remember picking him in our SB Nation draft.
I’m not sure I agree with the scout, though, because Blatche was giving him all those open looks.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I wanted Wiz to draft him
He fits salary wise and he is mobile enough to play 4 and 5 in some cases (When Wiz play small ball). He has a good 15 footer and he can block shots. He is what we wish OPec was at this time period in their development. I would be for it.

I'd Be For Acquiring Him Now
But not for getting him instead of Nick Young. Nick Young was a steal at where we got him.

He is most likely talking about next year's #1
for Smith, not Nick Young for Smith. 76er’s will not trade Young to Wizards anyway.

I Was Responding to the Title of Your First Post
I wanted Wiz to draft him
Jason Smith went four picks after Nick Young in the 2007 draft. I would have been against drafting him over Nick Young. I am all for acquiring him now for a future pick.

Although I can't think of a deal
What in the world would we offer that Philly wants?

NBA teams aren’t in the habit of trading away cheap young bigs that they like. He makes pennies on an NBA scale. Only way he is included in a deal is if they throw him into a package with Andre Miller for a long term solution at PG. They would love to deal Reggie Evans though. Speights will be the guy looking for minutes somewhere, anywhere this fall.
