Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

With guys like Matt Barnes, Tony Allen and Bostjan Nachbar off the board, perhaps Miles deserves a look for the vets minimum. Truthaboutit breaks down the pluses and minuses of a potential Miles signing.

Not a big fan

We’ve got very little room to play with from a monetary standpoint, and Miles would be a pretty big gamble. Sure, the gamble could pay off big since he’s quite talented, but the injury and his attitude problems have me pretty convinced he’s not worth the risk. I used to be crazy about him, but I think there’s a reason that he’s bounced around as much as he has—teams get fed up with his antics.

As for the concept of Jamison taking Miles under his wing, I think there’s only so much you can do. Blatche has been Jamison’s protege for years, and I still wish he would approach the game far more professionally.

It’s disappointing that Barnes signed with Phoenix for so much less than we could offer, but I think I like Mo Evans and Taser as better options than Miles as our backup SF.

"Now, obviously individual production does not unilaterally equal better team production, but there's a high level of causation."

The upside

Miles would not give the Wizards what they’re looking for in the rotation whatsoever. They might be able to leverage him though. I would think this kind of deal would be completely against the rules but what if they picked him up on a non-guaranteed contract and played him in a few games. Portland would be close to losing 9 or 10Mil in cap space. What would Paul Allen pay for our second round pick in 09 and the release of Miles? Like I said, this can’t be within rules but this is all the value the kid has right now.

Its scary to type but I’d prefer Devean George to Miles.

Ahhhhh...NO!!

Coach killer and grass smoker is not the type of player to add to a young team and surely don’t need someone like that anywhere near BulletProof. I doubt any team will sign this guy.
