It's official: Sonics to Oklahoma City next year
As annoying as the Arenas negotiations have been, at least we still have a team. My condolences to the fans in Seattle.

There's still hope for more Sonics one day
Since their keeping the name, colors, and all of that….

So awful-
I can’t imagine how the seattle fans feel. I would be devastated.

Worst part is losing out on Durant
Otherwise it would seriously suck – but could be drowned out by one’s choice of drug. But with Durant and all his promise leaving town…well I don’t think I know the words to console true Sonics fans.
Getting buckets since 2003.

Moving soon
None of this ought to console Seattle fans, but I can see the fans on Okie Doke City getting bored quickly as the novelty of having an NBA team wears off and the team charges big-city prices in Middletown USA because it can’t stay competitive with other franchises any other way. Free agents won’t want to play there, and the team will eventually spiral down into a losing, money-hemorrhaging eyesore that moves to another city by 2015.
It’s a damn shame that was orchestrated by a bunch of assholes who lied with a straight face every single day. Just despicable,
"Now, obviously individual production does not unilaterally equal better team production, but there's a high level of causation."

Well....OKC supported the Hornets when
they knew it’d only be temporary.
But the franchise is going from the 13th ranked media market to #45.
Bennett is a back stabber…but in all seriousness….new stadiums for the Seahawks and Mariners, but not the Sonics? Taxpayers should hold a great deal of blame as well.
I can’t imagine.
I guess we also should appreciate Abe Pollin in this instance for getting a downtown arena built…but it’s not like he didn’t financially benefit from it.

But
Key Arena is pretty new (1996).
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

It was rebuilt
Within the same architectural structure, etc… in 94/95
But the base for the thing was built in 1962.
So yea, while the renovation increased capacity by around 3,000 seats, among other things, I don’t think the old structure allowed for modern money making amenities such as a bunch of luxury boxes.

Ah, ok
That’s fair. Didn’t know all of that.

Yeah
Polin, the last of the Millionaire owners, built 2 arenas with his own money…. and, you’re right TruthAboutIt, he did benefit…
It’s too bad that some other Billionaire owners, like Bennett, don’t see the benefits of building their own Arena…. and instead, threaten, cajol, and blackmail Local Governments and Taxpayers to build one for them.

Still hope?
I thought Howard Schultz filled a different suit with the court to keep the Sonics in Seattle. I know the cities suit was settled but is Schultz suit still active?

This sucks.
I really feel bad for Seattle. I can’t believe David Stern allowed this. Its awful.
