Brand to the Warriors?
The Warriors offered free agent Elton Brand a five-year deal worth $90 million.
The most the Clippers can offer five-year deal worth about $70 million.
How ironic. Brand opts out to help give the Clippers some cap flexibility for the them to add another top-line player. They go out and sign Baron Davis.......
And now, the Clippers could lose Brand to the Warriors...

My understanding
is that signing Davis was a way to guarantee Brand would stick around by getting him some quality help. That does mean less money for Brand, but I can’t imagine he would go to the Warriors with their current roster. If he was going to leave, my guess is that it would involve Miami. I think a lot of big free agents saw what Boston did, and will be looking to pair up with a couple of dominant players to try and win a title. Brand now has Kaman (not the best center, but if healthy, one of the better ones) and Davis. The bench needs some depth, but it is not too bad, just not a contender’s bench.

Thats it
Thats my understanding as well. Brand knew he’d be taking less, but also knew that meant playing with Baron Davis. So he only gets 13.5 instead of 16 or 17… Did the Clippers just orchestrate the hell out of this, or did the players? next move, back to San Diego!
Golden State should be targeting Josh Smith, he’s perfect for them.

Yeah
They have no point guard but there really aren’t too many options out there. That is unless they want to try to pick up Kirk Heinrich. They still need front-court help though.

Well, there's Monta
My guess is they’ll try to make him the point guard, even though his skills don’t scream pure point guard.
I’m thinking that the Warriors have a ways to go before they get back into the playoff picture.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Al
Al Harrington’s deal expires next year. If they could get Josh Smith, re-sign Monta they could use Al’s contract as a chip for a PG. Monta and Josh are 22 I believe. Wow. He would sell tickets and fit their style. Maybe get Heinrich for Harrington.

Someone asked Chad Ford about that trade this afternoon, he wanted to forward it to both GMs. Those dots are pretty easy to connect.

True
This trade would make sense, but i feel like paxson would rather move larry hughes or ben gordon before he moves hinrich. I dont see how hughes meshes with derrick rose, unless they want to bring in don nelson and start pushing the ball from day 1 of the rose era. Theres the loyalty factor also since he drafted gordon and hinrich. Also, theres the Kevin McHale factor where gm’s always try to create teams made up of players that were like themselves so hinrich has the white point guard thing going for him.
Could Hughes play in Golden State alongside Monta Ellis? He worked with Arenas…A lot of members of this board seem to be down on larry hughes, i think he can still play if he’s put in the right scenario, and golden state and don nelson certainly play a style that fits his skill set.

Del Negro
Del Negro is said to be bringing a Suns-style high pick and roll game to Chicago. They may not play at the same tempo but he’s a fan of spreading the floor too. D’Antoni lite. They’ll need Hughes to defend someone. I too would prefer to move Ben Gordon.

Doubt it
All he can do is score, but the thing is he’s a pretty average shooter. He’s a good slasher but that’s about it, his quickness and first step is all he has going for him. I don’t think he has the court vision to be an effective point guard, otherwise I’m sure with all those drives to the hoop he would have set up his teammates for shots. Nelson wanted him for PG but he doesn’t have the skills. Basically he is a 2 guard that is stuck in a point guards body.
He’s a 28% 3pt shooter
3.9 asts/2.04TOs a game, plays about 38mins a game.

He's also really young
People said Gilbert could never be a point guard either.
