Is it just me, or is Marcus Camby going to waste on a very borderline team in the Western Conference?

Before we get mad because the Wizards didn't make a move for him, consider that the Nuggets wanted absolutely no contracts back and the Clippers are probably the only team which could accommodate that desire.

Weird

Very weird trade (mostly for the Clippers, I get that it was a salary dump for Denver). Are they really going to try to find a way to put Kaman and Camby on the floor at the same time? I don’t think that’s going to work. And if they’re not, then they’re paying a ton of money for a sixth man.

I suppose.....

Camby can guard the 4 spot….and on offense, he does like to stay in the high post and shoot that ugly jumper from the top of the key, at least against the Wizards he does.

Even more curious

The trade is for the option to trade second rounders….so LA doesn’t even lose a pick.

I wonder if they’ve got another move up their sleeve….they will need another scorer.

Hate to say it

With a healthy Gilbert, I would rather have Camby than Jamison. I feel dirty for saying that.

Yea, but

Who would you rather have at four?

Assuming that Camby would be a center, who would you like to replace Haywood in the starting lineup?

Not me

I understand the fascination league-wide for Camby, but I don’t agree with it.

Camby’s defense is good, but overrated. From watching him, he’s a great shot-blocker and rebounder, but like our boy Etan, he doesn’t really do much to actually stop penetration. He doesn’t move his body well contesting screens and he’s not a very good one-on-one defender. In the year he won the DPOY, the Nuggets actually had a higher defensive rating with him off the floor. There’s more that debunks the Camby myth here.

Combine that with his lack of a post game and that he’s older than Jamison, I say no thanks.

clippers

they’re going to have a strange team next year.

unless they make another move.

nuggets are giving up i suppose. another something for nothing trade. that worked wonders for memphis. what’s with the LA teams getting something for nothing in trades?

$

I don’t consider 20Mil nothing. They were at 80Mil in salary. So Camby’s 10 would cost them 10 in taxes, 20 total. Straight salary dump.

J

Just because LA only gave up a condition pick swap doesn’t mean Denver didn’t gain anything.

still backwards

you’re thinking from denver’s perspective. my point is that LA gave up nothing and got something.

while they didn’t get anything directly from LA, i didn’t say denver got nothing. like memphis, they got cap room. i still think it’s a sign they’re giving up on their current roster, and it won’t help them be a better team next year.

Weird Trade

Camby at the four? Really? I guess it is the Clippers…

Camby's mostly a perimeter player anyway on offense

I think it works fine. Kaman gets the low post, Camby the high post. They’ll be tough to drive on, that’s for sure.

Uh oh

As soon as this news hits the Washington Post Insider blog – there are gonna be tons of uninformed posters blasting the Wizards for not going after Camby… LOL
