hmmm

can head play point guard?

don’t know if i’m buying this.

i guess maybe if he makes a lot less than roger mason will this year.

Pull the trigger now!

I love this trade.

Head makes $1,962,378 next season and then in 09-10, the qualifying offer on his rookie contract would be $2,868,996.

So…no salary commitment.

Seems to be a nice upgrade from Roger Mason….at first glance, the stats show that Head is a better passer, rebounder, and stealer.

07-08 numbers were down from 06-07, but I still think he has decent upside.

I like it

Head is a lot like Mason. He’s at his best when paired with a taller PG (Hello AD) . He’s not much in the way of a PG though. Then again, neither was Mason.

He makes less than 2M this season and a little over that if we extend a qualifying offer next season. His minutes suffered last year when Adelman took over in Houston. The late season trade for Bobby Jackson, an Adelman guy from Sactown, sealed his fate.

35% from 3pt last year in 176 fewer attempts than 06-07 when he shot 44%.

I like. We won’t know until Ernie picks Lee though. And will Orlando try to jump over us to get Lee?

Don't forget about matching salaries

If I’m calculating right (which I might not be), the only players that we could trade for Head are O-Pec and Nick Young.

I think we all know who we’d rather deal if that’s the case.

Yeah, I like this trade too

It’s possible we don’t need to trade anyone back either, though I’m not sure about that.

Interesting that Houston wants Lee. I thought they were hot for Donte Greene. Either way, they’ve been wanting to move up in the draft, and Head is expendable with them.

I think Head is a better Roger Mason, though I wonder why we need another Roger Mason anyway. He’s not much of a PG, but he fits well in the Princeton, can shoot the lights out, and is a better ball-handler and defender.

At 25, we can select Hickson or Hendrix and still get our big.

I say do it.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

At 25 go ahead and pick the big you want. I don’t care if they take one of the undersized guys a little early either. Get the guy you want.

I imagine Ernie has a few deals like this in the works. This is just the one that leaked out. If Lee isn’t there at #18 he could have a deal with San Antonio, Seattle, or Utah. If the Jazz want Hibbert they have to move ahead of Cleveland and Charlotte at 20 to get him. But Indy could take Roy at 17.

i'd say it's actually a plus

if we can dump opec in this deal. (i’ll bet i’m the only one though.)

Luther Head is trifecters

Every time I saw him play his shot looked deadly. He’s a decent ball handler and a great defender for his size also.

I Don't Like It

Unless Ernie knows exactly what’s going to happen in this draft, I’d rather not risk it. I think there’s a good chance neither Speights nor Hibbert is available at 25. Sure, we could use a shooter off the bench a la Roger Mason Jr. But what this team really needs is a tough big man down low.

I think you and I like those guys more than Ernie does.
