Not for those that hate McGee

From DraftExpress,

-JaVale McGee seems pretty confident that he won’t slip past 19…

-At #18, it looks like the Wizards are trying to decide between JaVale McGee and Darrell Arthur. It appears like both players will be there.

I could live with either, though McGee looks/acts soft as butter, he is a shot blocker coming in and we need a backup center that can do SOMETHING.  He is basically what this draft is all about, a bunch of young bigs that you have to decide which one has potential and which one can help your team now.  He can come in and close the lane for Wizards in a back role right now.

Boo

Let’s hope that’s a smokescreen. Hibbert can do all the things McGee does better.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I new you would say that !!!! ROTFLMAO

You have let it be known you don’t like this guy. In truth, from what I can/have seen, no thanks also. I would just try and make the best of the situation and hope EG see’s something we don’t. Me, I see a Big Pus, that can become a big POS. He can block shots but is so soft he would be scared too. Mommy’s boy.

Hah

You know me too well. I need to stop repeating myself.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

McGee would continue Ernie’s fascination with tall skilled big men. He is 2 years away from playing the 4 spot in a NBA game though and will likely never be a center.

Ernie

Ernie’ fascination with tall athletic big men goes back to Marcus Haislip. Lets hope he learned something.

Well, we now know why we got McGee...

It’s because of this fan post.

If you truly believe that, you will be thanking me one day soon

Take an objective look at McGee’s body of work and it is not as bad as we all think it is.
He is already the best shot blocker on the team and most likely in the top 4 best atheletes on the team.
And from everything I have read, he is a hardworking, good kid.

No worries.....

I’m much more optimistic than most….but I’m still a little miffed.

However, Ernie Grunfeld has made me eat my critical words many times before, so I guess there’s no reason to suspect otherwise this time.

Chalmers would have been great though.

I give it to ya…..you win the Foresight Award.

I think you're misusing the term "objective"

“Objective” means looking at his production and seeing what he’s already done. We’ve done that here, using this and thisas the data. The conclusion that has to be made is that, objectively, he stinks relative to his peers. The only area in which he stands out is with his shot-blocking (and maybe his three-point shooting, but do we really need that?). He’s a middle-of-the-pack rebounder (in a bad conference, no less), sports a putrid assist-to-turnover ratio, benched the least among top centers and doesn’t shoot many free throws. That’s an objective look at JaVale McGee.

A subjective look would be to say something like “he’s a hardworking kid,” “he’s the next Tyson Chandler,” or “he’s most likely in the top 4 best athletes on the team.” Another person could look at the video and see something very different. Looking at McGee subjectively means projecting something on him (whether it’s saying he’s going to be a bust or a star).

What you’re doing is looking at McGee subjectively. That’s fine, it’s a major part of projecting talent, but it’s definitely not objective. Objective is looking at production, and there, he falls short.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

i think you misinterpreted

that by objective, LoneWiz meant unbiased.

if you throw out the disappointment (bias) that we drafted another likely project and didn’t fill an immediate need, i think you could say this pick has upside citing facts and stats, mostly those regarding sheer size and athleticism.

that being said, while others might unconditionally think this is a smart pick, i’ll admit as a wizards fan, that i’m subjectively trying to look on the bright side. :)

again, i hope EG does something more immediately helpful via free agency or a trade.

Ah, ok

Then I see what he was trying to say.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
