So much for JO
Looks like he's heading to Toronto for T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic, their pick (#17, making things interesting, because Indy will probably now want a big), and someone else (Jason Kapono's the only one that works, and he's on the hook for three more seasons). Probably a good trade for both teams, but JO's diminishing value is clear here.

BUT
If JO is heading to Toronto, why would they need to draft a big?
JO will play Center. Bosh PF… and they’ll still have Andrea Bargnani and Primoz Brezec ..
Seems like their next big need would be to replace Kapono’s 3-point shooting (hard to do since the guy shot 48% from 3-ville)

No
Toronto’s pick is going to Indiana in the trade. Indiana would be the team that suddenly needs a big.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Also
Kapono isn’t officially part of the deal. I just checked everyone’s salary and found out Toronto was 5 million short, so I inserted Kapono into it.

This allows Indiana flexibility at 11
Probably were going point guard at 11, so they may grab big at 11 then take someone like Rush/CDR at 17.

The other way
I was thinking Rush at 11 and a F/C at 17.
Toronto makes a big play. They also just made Kapono worth nearly as much as they paid for him.

I like this for Indy
They set themselves up for a nice draft and I like TJ (if he can avoid injury).
Getting buckets since 2003.

Its starting already (and I love it way too much)
Great deal for both sides. Indy gets young and deep, Bosh (possibly) gets some toughness next to him.

And people wanted to trade Gil for J.O........
I think this trade, as Prada touched upon, shows what NBA GMs (at least two of them) really think of O’Neal’s value.
I’m positive that Bird had a ton more feelers out there…...and this is the best he could get?
Hmmmm…...

I Wonder
I wonder how much value NBA GMs (other than Ernie) would give a max contract point guard who hasn’t been healthy in over a year and is coming off of two major knee surgeries? At least part of the reason (if not the reason) JO’s value has diminished so much is because he hasn’t been able to perform up to his big salary because of his injuries.
