Andy Katz on the Wiz

Andy Katz reports that the #18 pick can be had. Not exactly a Newsflash is it? He also mentions that Ernie talked to Portland about making a deal. In his blog he didn't elaborate to include what either side wanted out of the deal.

However, last night on their NBA Draft special he slipped in a little tidbit that Washington would like to draft Brandon Rush. He started by saying that Washington has initiated calls in order to move up to get Rush.

Putting 2 and 2 together it appears Ernie spoke to Portland about moving up to 13 in order to grab Rush.

Yo! This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

hmmm

while i like the idea of 13 and especially to draft rush, i dont know how a trade between us could work. Portland is looking for a small forward and we’re not gonna trade caron butler…Also i believe theyre trying to get rid of all the draft picks they have instead of acquiring even more. I’d like to see it happen, but its gonna take someone a lot more creative than me with the espn trade machine to make it work.

Maybe it was trading picks straight up

Something like 18 and 47 for 13. Even then, why would Portland do it?

My guess is Ernie, hearing that Portland wanted to move the pick, called and offered one of his bloated mid-level guys. Kevin Pritchard probably listened for about five seconds, then hung up. Ernie tried again, but Pritchard ignored the call.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

sweet

i’m curious. what’s portland’s angle? why would they want to trade their pick?

jack/rodriguez/blake
roy/?
webster/outlaw
aldridge/frye
oden/pryzbilla

seems like they could use an upgrade at the 3 and the 1. do they not want more young talent? if so, why not?

unfortunately, i don’t see anything the wiz could offer, unless portland is high on macguire or pecherov. i liked it better when rush was projected to be available at 18…

I have no idea...

What Portland gets out of it. If this is legit and Portland is considering moving back, its only if they can’t swing something to move up first. If they can’t maybe they feel they can get one of their next “tier” guys that much lower and add future chips. I bet these bigs would be scored all over the charts if you went team by team. I think it would take a future #1 pick, and not that pick from Memphis for 2012.

Blake – Jack – Sergio – Kopponen
Roy – Rudy Fernandez – James Jones
Oden – Pryzbilla – Freeland
Aldridge – Frye – McRoberts
Webster – Outlaw
