Another Reason to Dislike LeBron
[Ed. note: From the FanPosts. I'll have something up later today, until then, enjoy cuppetcj delivering big time with the goods on this one. If you want to leave him a tip for this effort, that's fine by me, but if you're going to go cheap on him, don't bother. -Jake]
As if we needed another reason to dislike LeBron, it turns out that DeShawn is not the only guy who gets shat on by "the King."
It went down like this: LeBron pulls up in his Mercedes outside XO. People stop and try not to stare, but c'mon, it's LeBron James. He enters the restaurant with a group of friends. On this special occasion, the King decides to dine late. He keeps his group there until around 3:45 a.m. During this time the waiter obsequiously pours drinks and fetches anything else His Greatness needs.
The final bill comes to $800. By the feudal laws of decorum, which stipulate that the affluent should administer a 20 percent gratuity, staffers figured they'd be pocketing an extra $160. But when they fetched the autographed bill after His Heinousness bolted back to Akron, their expectation turned to disbelief, then anger.
LeBron stiffed them with a meager $10 tip. This is what French nobles like to call your requisite Bourgeois Bitch-Slap. The waiter wouldn't even take it, tired of being shat on by guys like LeBron.
Does anybody else here feel a bit of schadenfreude at LeBron's poor performance against Boston right now? He's shooting a combined 8-42 from the field this series (16%). It looks like Boston's defense is treating LeBron like he treats other people. What a jerk that guy is.
This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

It gets worse
I work with a bunch of Cavs fans, one of whom is from Akron. She said a friend of hers works at a restaurant frequented by LeBron and has served him on several occasions. Turns out, the stiffing in the story you posted is a comment occurrence. LeBron’s your basic $100 million cheapskate.

Hilarious -
Poor David Stern – his beloved crybaby is having a hard time with Boston. He better find some Boston players to suspend and change the refs for the games. And yes I am loving this series and how badly LeBron is playing. I’ll admit he is a terrific player but I can’t stand the guy.

Re: the “overrated” chant—I wonder now if all the media will go berserk over LeBron getting dissed, and kill Boston’s fans, the way they did Deshawn.
Just call it a hunch, but somehow I doubt it…

Somehow, I think your hunch is right
I really need to devote a whole post to why we always paint winners as complete saints and losers as complete jerks. I know nuance is not a value most people have time to consider, but it really should be.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Speaking of LeBron
There’s a new diss track to add to the rivalry, from the one and only…Brian Scalabrine (Note: It’s not actually from Scalabrine). The lyrical content is pretty expletive ridden, so be warned before you click the link, which will guide you to where you can see the lyrics and download the song. If downloading isn’t your thing, you can also listen to it about halfway through The Basketball Jones podcast from today.

Update on the tipping incident -
Could LeBron James’ whole $10 tip on an $800 meal incident be just a big misunderstanding?
The owner of the XO Prime Steaks, where the whole stingy scene went down, has issued the following statement:
For the record, XO would like to clear up a misunderstanding resulting from a story that appeared in the Cleveland Scene on May 7th…Upon completion of his meal, Mr. James paid his bill with a credit card. Our waiter mistakenly read the receipt, inferring that Mr. James had left him only a $10 tip. To clear up the misunderstanding, Mr. James arranged for an appropriate tip to be delivered to the restaurant for the waiter. (TMZ)
I’m sure Lebron’s peeps probably got to him and told him to fix the situation. He’s still a douchebag.

That story makes no sense!
Every restaurant I’ve ever been to has had a separate “TIP” line for the tip when you pay by credit card. No waiter with even two functioning brain cells could make that mistake. I’m sure the XO owner wants LeBaby to come back to his restaurant so he’s covering for Lebron’s cheapskate ass, but still, if he’s going to lie, he could at least do so intelligently.
