Open Thread: Game 6

Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards, May 2, 2008 7:00 PM EDT

One last chance to dance.  Win or go home.  All those cliches apply.

Some pregame links:

Nothing more needs to be said.  Without Songaila, Haywood needs to avoid foul trouble tonight.  We need to get out on Gibson and West like we did last game.  And lastly, keep LeBron out of the lane as usual.  Getting something from our MVP this year would also be nice.

There's nothing more to say.  GO WIZARDS!

Pessimism

Go Wiz, but I have a feeling they’re gonna lose tonight. Unless Caron goes off, we’re in trouble. I’ve been wrong many times before, but I just don’t feel good about tonight. It’s mainly because my heart was ripped out in Game 4.

Please. Go Wiz.

Here

No choice to be optimistic. Who else is here? Don’t be shy, I know you all are watching.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Living in the moment.....

I don’t know what to feel yet, but I am here.

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 7:16 PM EDT reply actions

This is so silly

They called a T on West for THAT? Geez.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on May 2, 2008 7:18 PM EDT reply actions

Yea....

That was ridiculous. That was the first foul of the game they called…so they were letting them play…but then they are trigger happy on that tech?

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions

i may have to switch to ESPN

Comcast isn’t showing the score…

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:21 PM EDT reply actions

Oh jeez

Wally can barely miss.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on May 2, 2008 7:22 PM EDT reply actions

I hate to get all Doug Collins here

but I think that “last 2:00min of every quarter” thing will also play big for the Wizards.

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:24 PM EDT reply actions

Definitely

That’s how they lost Game 4 … messed up in the last two minutes of the second quarter.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Great help defense by Blatche

And nice offensive move on the previous end.

that's it...

pick off James’ passes…

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:37 PM EDT reply actions

is it me or

is Haywood playing it safe because he knows the frontline’s thin?

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:48 PM EDT reply actions

Dammit

Good thing there’s a TV timeout here … we needed one.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

they came out on fire

but now they seem tired and tentative

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions

This is painful

I’m staffing a training that finishes up at 9PM. I have no video, no audio, and Courtside Live on NBA.com is slow in updating.

This CANNOT be the team’s last game of the season. I spend way too much time focusing on them to the detriment of the rest of my life to let it end like this.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccc….

by sierradave on May 2, 2008 7:50 PM EDT reply actions

What the hell was that?

Stop shooting threes! What the hell is this.

Why is Roger Mason guarding LeBron????

Joe Smith...

I was afraid of this…

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 7:56 PM EDT reply actions

what the fuck is going on?

Over 5 minutes without a fg? 13-0 run?

There we go

Time to be the franchise player, Caron.

Big bucket

Okay, eight points. Could have been worse.

Wait, technical on LeBron!

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on May 2, 2008 8:03 PM EDT reply actions

weird

they had a good first quarter with a sloppy ending, and than a cold-shooting 2nd with a decent ending (counting the James technical).

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 8:04 PM EDT reply actions

I mean

I’d rather beat Cleveland with LeBron than without him.

You're a better man than me.

We can beat him in game 7….I just want to make it to tomorrow.

fun fact

we gave up the most 3s in NBA history this year

I have less hope...

Than when we were down 5 late in the previous game.

Is there a reason for me to feel otherwise?

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 8:51 PM EDT reply actions

no

the team is dispirited – you can’t win when you are conceding in your head that the other team is better.

They're mistakening cause and effect

ESPN is talking about how Caron developed no rhythm, but if his teammates could hit a shot, it would have given him more room to operate. That, more than anything, hurt Caron.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on May 2, 2008 8:59 PM EDT reply actions

Yea...but then you could argue

That a strong start by Caron would have set some rhythm for the rest of the team.

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

To follow...

It just doesn’t leave me with a good feeling thinking that Caron has to depend on the rest of his team for his rhythm.

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, we're just LeBron James's bitches

Simple as that, really. King James puts up a triple-double to silence the stupidest team ever, the boys who dared to talk smack against the team. Remember how embarrassing it was to be a fan after that first Celtics game this season? Yeah. It’s gonna be a looooong summer.

At least our team is on the map now. Instead of being invisible, now we’re the dirty punks who can’t back up their smack talk.

by sierradave on May 2, 2008 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

I’d have a lot less of a problem with if if LBJ himself wasn’t such a bitch. Seriously, how will he command any real respect if he cries after every play?

Bitch.

I need a drink

This season, and this series, has been too stressful. Great season guys.

OK, gut-check time

make this game respectable, guys.

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

Ha! Good one!

You mean gut check from Cleveland fans hoping they don’t gloat too much, right?

DeShawn Stevenson is no longer the Lock Smith….he’s the Egg Beater…because it’s all over his face.

(ok, that’s unjust…...it’s on the team….but still)

by Kyle Weidie on May 2, 2008 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

whatever

we didnt lose b/c of DS or anyone else who talked smack. We lost b/c we can’t defend the 3, rebound, or sustain offensive continuity against a decent defense. (and mabe we lost b/c of a hobbled Gil and CB3 but that’s just an excuse)

Getting buckets since 2003.

by Icantfeelmyface on May 2, 2008 9:20 PM EDT up reply actions

if there was no trash-talking

the story would have simply been, “Again, the Cavs beat a weak Washington squad.” No one outside DC would give this team props for anything.

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions

If we won

We would have looked like dicks too.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on May 2, 2008 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

agreed

After Brown and James set the tone, nothing was going to change the meme that the Wizards were needlessly rough (aka dirty).

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Ehh

Guess it doesn’t bother me near as much. I would have certainly like to see more professionalism…but admit it. We have a goofy team.

Getting buckets since 2003.

I was thinking more like

“Healthy Enough to Rule?” but that works too

Good season fellas

I’m out.

Let me check out the WashPost Insider

where I’m sure the “Trade Gil!” and “Fire Jordan!” calls will be in full force.

All I have to say is this: some teams (cough, Miami, cough) folded like a lawn chair when they had key injuries. These guys kept pluggin’ away.

by Pryme on May 2, 2008 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Wizards Insider

Is filled with some of the most negative Wizards Fans people on earth…...

Fire Eddie Jordan? That’s crazy talk.

And even though Gil pisses me off with his immaturity….I have faith in him and you’d be crazy not to want him back.

Yea, is this frustrating? More than hell….

But we should feel privileged to even make the playoffs…FOR A 4TH STRAIGHT YEAR!!!!!
