LIFE'S GUILTY PLEASURES

C'mon... admit it... you're thrilled as hell we don't have to endure anymore LeBron this season.

I'm not ashamed. I hate LeBron. Not his skill set, which is beyond dominant, but the LeBron experience. I was giggling like a school kid when he was begging to be bailed out with a foul call when he airballed that 6 footer from the baseline. I loved that Pierce outhustled him for the ball after the tip. I laughed out freakin loud when he missed that first of two free throws.

Go ahead... it's ok. You can say it to.

This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

Right on.

I hate LeBron too. I’m so glad I don’t have to watch his act anymore this season. Now let’s hope the Spurs take a dive so we can forget about another thrilling Pistons vs. Spurs final.

Even more infuriating than watching LeBron cry for 48 minutes is listening to his self promoting bullshit. Sorry buddy, I knew exactly where Akron was before you came along and that shit hole is still not on anybody’s map.

Thank you Paul Pierce for working LeBron out this afternoon. I love how he still tried to make it about him at his post game press conference.

Someone please tell this guy that he’s not a global icon, he’s not God’s gift to basketball or Akron, Ohio…hes not Jordan and never will be. Win a championship (game!) and then maybe you can talk. Until then you are just another talented, yet extremely overhyped athlete who happens to have his face on the cover of Vogue. You arent even that good looking, you look like fucking Donatello without the shell.

Celtics Fan Here

I was hanging around BulletsForever a little during the season because I read Gil’s blog over the summer and became really interested in the team. I was here the day Gil came back to see your reactions and I spent a lot of time here during the first round series with Cle. Obviously, we beat the Lebron’s and it felt great. The look on his face as the game came to a close, the whining and looks of disbelief after every no-call (despite something like 20 FTA), the missed free throw at the end, the post-game, everything. I had a couple of questions for you guys, though:

First, for all of the dislike some of you have for Lebron, how much of it do you think biased (as a result of the 3 eliminations) and how much of it do you think is justified (given his off court demeanor/actions)?

Also…how do you guys feel about the way the national media has treated Gil this year? He’s been made to look like some kind of monster who eats the ball a soon as someone passes it to him. It seems that during the beginning of the year, one writer mentioned that the ball moved more without Gil and then every other writer fell in line. Personally, I don’t buy the idea that you can’t win a championship with a shoot-first point guard. What are your opinions on this?

Also, how many of you would want to keep GIl around even if it is just for the off-court craziness, persona, and swag?

I'll be honest

It is probably more a result of the 2 playoff losses (we don’t consider last year because we were a skeleton crew by the time the playoffs hit) then anything, however I think we are very rational when it comes to these things. I think because we’ve been pitted against them so many times, we have had more opportunity to witness the lopsidedness (word?) then fans of other teams.

My best homeboy is a Cavs fan, and even he admitted how ludicrous the officiating was in the first round saying ’ I still think we’d have won, but they gave your guys no chance’.

As for your 2nd question, I can’t speak for everybody. Me personally, I started completely disregarding mainstream media for ‘opinions’ a few years back. Once you notice how often they get stories on your local team incorrect, you realize you can’t depend on them for accuracy in stories on teams you don’t follow closely. Within the next 10 years, blogs will be the gold standard of journalism.

RTG,

Re: LeBron hate, I think it’s both. He does seem to have the Wiz’ number, but his incessant whining and preferential treatment by the refs doesn’t help. I mean, one of our main bench players, Songaila, was suspended for hitting him in the mouth when their arms got tangled. That simply doesn’t happen if it’s any other player in the league getting hit. No chance.

Question for you: How to C’s fans feel about Garnett? I watched every game in the series against Cleveland, and was, frankly, shocked at how rarely KG went inside. He seems like he’s allergic to the post. I kept thinking “look how soft Garnett is”, which is strange, because he’s generally seen as a very tough, intense hard-nosed player, isn’t he? He just likes to float around at 12-18 feet and launch jumpers, or pass off, even when going strong to the hole would be a better option. It appeared that he looks to pass too quickly, without sizing up what his man is doing, and whether he can get to the basket.

Does it appear that way to C’s fans, or is my perception off here?

LeBron

I may overly criticize LeBron as a result of bias…...but my growing dislike of him has everything to do with observing his actions as a general NBA fan.

The thing is…..I didn’t mind LeBron so much until this year when he has really showed his true side.

It all adds up:
1) The crying
2) The flopping
3) The thing with his mom
4) Hometown loyalty…claiming Ohio, but being a fan of the Yankees, Cowboys and Bulls growing up.
5) The bad tipping
6) The way his comments reflect how self-absorbed he is.

LeBron has brought most all of this on himself…..his actions are very telling as I’ve run into many non-Wizards fans who feel the same way. Verdict = Justified.

Lebron etc.

My feelings are similar to the other posters. I hate him because he keeps eliminating us but mainly because of his crying and whining. I do think he is a fantastic player but I’m really turned off by him. I’m kind of sick of the preferential treatment he gets from the refs.

I don’t pay attention to mainstream media either. I go on ESPN for the latest news but I don’t bother reading the opinion articles. I got really turned off by the coverage of Sean Taylor’s death. It was disgusting. I’m a blog fan. The media seems to jump on the latest bandwagon for their sensationalistic stories – ie the Wizards are better off without Gilbert. How the heck do you know that when he barely played?

I have mixed feelings about Gilbert. for some reason the things I used to love about him have begun to irritate me. I just felt their was too much drama surrounding him. Yes he is very entertaining but I would rather see the Wiz succeed than keep Gilbert because he is entertaining and this town loves him. I don’t think he is worth a max contract and I think he should play another year before opting out.

I have some questions for you – what is up with Ray Allen? I read on a Celtics blog that he is very frustrated with the offensive play calling. Does that seem to be the case? And why the heck can’t the Celtics win on the road? I haven’t watched all of the games so I can’t assess that.

i've been wondering why i dislike lebron...

1. self-absorbed: his postgame quotes oftentimes seem downright untruthful to me. he plays politics and is always looking after his self interest, and not necessarily fairness (he doesn’t seem like a good sport). he has an extremely valuable image to cultivate and protect, but i don’t think he’s going about it the right way.
2. annointed: not really his fault, but he was put on a pedestal from day one. too much too soon. he hadn’t earned the calls he was getting two years ago in the playoffs, he hadn’t earned the marketing deal, etc.. to his credit, he’s lived up to the hype, but when things don’t go his way he comes off as looking spoiled. actually, either way he comes off as looking spoiled.
3. disrespectful: i think he, along with much of the media, are largely disrepectful of the wizards, so F him. this unfortunately makes it that much worse when his squad beats us three years in a row, especially when he gets away with aggregious travels on game winners.

so it felt real good to show up game 3 and boo his ass.

however, i do think his team beat the wiz soundly and fairly this year in the playoffs, so i think i got the hatred out. watching the cavs-celts, lebron was damn good, they came real close to pulling off the upset. i still don’t like him, and i get real annoyed with the histrionics, but i respect how good he is (he finishes around the hoop, period), and i think i’ll enjoy watching him on the court more going forward.

i’m glad his team lost though, yeah. i think most of the animosity is because i’m a wiz fan. otherwise, he’d be like kobe – i don’t like him, but i don’t really care too much about how he or his team does, and i acknowledge that it can be entertaining to watch him play.

in the future, wiz need to try to win for their own sake, and avoid focusing on beating lebron.
