DC Sports Bog is hosting a contest to give nicknames to Dominic McGuire and Roger Mason.  The winner gets 2 tickets to the Pacers game, a Wizards wig, and the (in)famous black Dr. Phil bobblehead.  I've nothing for Roger, you'd think there'd be something you could do with a last name like Mason, but I'm coming up empty.  As for Dom, I'm not sure that anything can top Taser, but I've been shocked before.  If there is a better nickname for him, it better allude to this photo in some way, shape, or form:

Interesting note on Mason -
From an e-mail about tonight's game from the Wizards. I didn't realize this:

HERE COMES THE MIP: Where would the Wizards be without Roger Mason Jr. this season? And will the people with Most Improved Player ballots take notice? By the numbers, Roger's scoring jump from last season to this season bears mention among the league's most improved, but nobody saw a bigger jump in fewer minutes per game this season than Mason.

LARGEST INCREASE IN SCORING AVERAGE / LAST SEASON TO THIS SEASON (MIN: 50 GAMES IN EACH SEASON)

Rudy Gay + 9.4 (20.2 ppg in 37.4 mpg this season) | LaMarcus Aldridge + 8.7 (17.7 ppg in 34.6 mpg this season) | Beno Udrih + 8.1 (12.8 ppg in 32.3 mpg this season) | Ronnie Brewer + 7.5 (12.1 ppg in 28.0 mpg this season) | Lou Williams + 7.1 (11.4 ppg in 23.1 mpg this season) | Richard Jefferson + 6.5 (22..8 ppg in 38.9 mpg this season) | Hedo Turkoglu + 6.4 (19.7 ppg in 37.4 mpg this season) | Roger Mason Jr. + 6.2 (8.9 ppg in 21.2 mpg this season)

How is this even a contest?
Vanilla Gorilla wins.  "Taser" is just the best possible nickname for a shot blocker like McGuire.  and with that offensive rebounding prowess to go along with it?  "Don't tase me, bro!"

No other nicknames should even be submitted.  VG gets to turn around and walk off the court before the shot goes in.  His nicknaming swag is phenomenal.

roger mason nickname
since he's the only uva player in the league, and most people have no idea who the guy is, my suggestion is:

roger "hoo" mason

My suggestion....

...but what do I know?

Dominic McGuire = 'Glass Wipe'

I've heard some call RMJ the Silent Assassin.

Personally, I like the Foreman Grill (Roger heats up off the bench a la Vinnie 'The Microwave' Johnson).

That being said, you could always go with 'Microwave 2.0' - if you're a knock-off type of person.

Or....Roger Mason, Jr. = The Potomac Rainmaker

Oh yea.....TAI game preview.
