Well I’m more optimistic than I was on Monday so I’ll go with the wizards. This team tends to surprise me when I give up on them. Hopefully they will rebound and Caron will show up for a full game.

by ooba on Apr 30, 2008 4:29 PM EDT   0 recs

interesting comment from today's WaPo chat

Michael Lee: Six, sir. It’s a TNT thing. They want to get the Celtics-Hawks on primetime. Who woulda thunk it? The Wizards have played so poorly that they get bumped by the Hawks for primetime. Sad times indeed.

that about sums up my feelings about the wizards play thus far this series.

i hope they turn it around tonight.

by DarrellWalkerFan on Apr 30, 2008 4:47 PM EDT   0 recs

Oh snap!

Gilbert out for rest of postseason according to Washington Post Live.

I’m surprised at how surprised I am.

I swear I don’t want to get into this yet, but there’s no way Gil is getting a max contract next season.

by Aldo on Apr 30, 2008 5:08 PM EDT   0 recs

I don't think even he expects that now

You can tell.

Hopefully he just doesn’t opt-out.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Eddie had no idea this was coming - he just found out

Man – I’ve been the biggest Gil fan, but this is just stupid. He can’t leave his team in the lurch like this! The dude needs to grow up.

Getting buckets since 2003.

by Icantfeelmyface on Apr 30, 2008 5:16 PM EDT   0 recs

I agree. That’s really bad.

by Aldo on Apr 30, 2008 5:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Now that i think about it

I’m sure this has to do with his missed shot and overall poor play last game. Gil, in his weird way, probably decided that the team will be better off w/o him at 75%. Of course, he picks the worst possible time to make the decision. He should have decided that before the playoffs or right after the last game instead of just once again becoming the biggest story that doesn’t have anything to do with the men on the court. I love GIlbert. But he needs to learn how to act like a man. He has a franchise that relies on him, and he just doesn’t get it yet. I hope he does get it someday, and I hope it happens here, but Gil just isn’t making the offseason decisions easy for anybody.

I’m fine with it though – at least we know who is going to battle for us from here on out. Go Wiz!

Getting buckets since 2003.

not surprised gil's shutting down

his p/t was creating havoc with the rotation (even though it provided a brief spark in Game 3). But making this decision before tip-off was kinda bad form.

by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 6:03 PM EDT   0 recs

Too many outside shots

They’re hitting them, but they’re allergic to the rim.

I long for the days of a healthy Gilbert. But everyone’s right, it’s really not okay to not tell your coach that you’re shutting things down. If he’s still here next year (and my guess is he will be, he’s not opting out methinks), he can’t do that.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 6:20 PM EDT   0 recs

the. wizards. are. playing. very. carefully.

for the most part. You get the sense that they are trying to value every possession.

There ya go

Caron is really, really assertive tonight.

Geez

What is Darius doing?

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 6:26 PM EDT   0 recs

Oh, geez, here we go again

James overreacts to a hit (this time, one that he initiates) and the entire NBA comes to his rescue.

by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 6:29 PM EDT   0 recs

HOW DISGUSTING IS THIS?

I hope everyone that can is flipping back and forth between the TNT and Comcast. TNT is actually going along with the LeBron acting job. The all-LeBron love fest actually is causing me physical pain. The refs, the announcers… God that’s why we were supposed to win this series. Fuck man. Cmon Wiz, please win this game.

by KDP on Apr 30, 2008 6:29 PM EDT   0 recs

At the same time

That was a pretty dumb play by Songaila.

I have a dream that someone will at least recognize that both sides have been fueling this fire. When Marv said that the Wizards were doing most of the talking, that just did it for me.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 6:32 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It was a total accident though

James in trying to pull his arm away actually caused Songaila’s arm to go into his neck….....LeBron (and the officials) completely overreacted.

by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

A guy seated next to Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert.....

Threw a towel at DeShawn Stevenson…...security started to take him out, but Gilbert negotiated and they let him stay in the arena.

This was on Comcast….not sure if they discussed on TNT as I have the volume down on Reggie Miller’s puberty voice.

by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:31 PM EDT   0 recs

Certainly wasn't on TNT

I watched the whole game on TNT, so I only heard about it afterwards in Deshawn’s post game interview. If it was some random schmoe, I’d have no problem with it. But it was a buddy of the Cleveland owner, so it’s 100% bush league.

by jvflail on May 1, 2008 12:53 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Makes me sick

I can barely watch when the refs call it like this. LeBron PULLED Songaila’s arm into his throat – DS did nothing wrong! And that towel thing is about as low class as you can get.

Getting buckets since 2003.

by Icantfeelmyface on Apr 30, 2008 6:33 PM EDT   0 recs

Of course, I would contest that

LeBron pulled Songaila’s arm into him….at least not intentionally…...but his reaction was classic.

And to think that I kinda thought LeBron James was a decent dude before this series. I don’t think I’ll ever like him again.

by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree KDP

I just logged on to make the same comment. Lebron hooks Darius’s arm, Lebron fake acts and gets the tech call. Comcast shows the replay from the other angle and you can see clearly what happened. I switch over to TNT and Marv Albert is calling it a punch, rambling that he should be ejected. Such BS.

Deshawn needs to shoot the pull up J and Caron better keep abusing Wally.

What? They don't have TV in the D-League? Don't watch me, watch TV.

by Mac G on Apr 30, 2008 6:34 PM EDT   0 recs

Darius did nothing wrong

TNT didnt play the other angle like Comcast. Buck is still pissed about the tech and flopping.

What? They don't have TV in the D-League? Don't watch me, watch TV.

by Mac G on Apr 30, 2008 6:35 PM EDT   0 recs

To be fair

I’m out of market, so all I see is TNT.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 6:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

All I saw was Comcast

And I can’t believe TNT said that. Ha.

Flopajo

That was a ridiculous play.

Well, Gilbert is out

I kinda expected that to happen.

From now on, Caron = Man

Gilbert = 2nd Fiddle…..a side show

by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:39 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree Prada

He should have taking every shot down the stretch last game.

It feels like we're losing by 20

The way this game is being called

by Aldo on Apr 30, 2008 6:38 PM EDT   0 recs

excuse my gangsta

but if we go down, I hope DeShawn clocks the fuck outta LeBron as time expires. In fact, if he promises to do it, I don’t care if we win.

side note CARON IS ON FIRE. He’s pulling a Gilbert today. we’re coming home for #6.

by KDP on Apr 30, 2008 6:38 PM EDT   0 recs

it only took five games

but Butler realizes that Wally can’t stop him…

by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 6:39 PM EDT   0 recs

Reggie

Reggie Miller, great player, terrible announcer. He doesn’t have any clue what is going on. If he calls Marv Albert marvelous one more time…he can’t even freaking say it without slurring.

by the white prez on Apr 30, 2008 6:39 PM EDT   0 recs

Well this is the Caron of the beginning of the season

I like it. Finally someone shows up to play. He knows he’s the BMOC w/ Gil out of the picture.

Times like make me glad that I live in DC

And I can listen to Buck and Phil. I wonder what Charles and Kenny will say about the foul on Darius. I hope someone working for TNT saw the other angle of what really happened.

“Thats a clear punch”

Marv “Lebron hit himself (sarcasticly)

Reggie thinks they should eject Darius and review the play

Reggie Miller is an assclown

He’s talking about how the game is up and down, which is the Wizards pace.

Except the Wizards played at the fifth-slowest pace in the league this year.

Nice job Reggie.

I'm worried

That every shot is a contested mid-range jumper.

We can count the number of shots inside the paint on one finger. That has to change.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 6:50 PM EDT   0 recs

if nick young's shot attempt is any example

there’s a reason the Wiz are settling for outside shots

Potomac Rainmaker!

And nice penetration by Young. He may not have finished, but they need somebody to drive to the rim.

Nice use of the nickname….

by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:56 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

This was an interesting play

Nick Young attacks the rim with power, athleticsm, and control. I thought he drew a foul on Zydrunus but it turned out good for the Wiz anyway. What was interesting was Cleveland’s reaction (or lack there of) to NY’s drive. They couldn’t handle it. WE NEED MORE OF THIS!

is it really that bad an idea

to play mostly man-to-man, let James get his points, but choke the rest of the Cavs and make them bystanders? Really, who else can create their own shot?

by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 7:03 PM EDT   0 recs

The problem is twofold

1. Nobody can even limit LeBron on this team.

2. When that happens, LeBron penetrates and dishes, or he just scores. At least this way, we’re forcing the other guys to beat us.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Pradamaster on Apr 30, 2008 7:05 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree

it’s just that I’ve seen enough Cavs games to know most of these guys can hit an open shot, so the “double LeBron” strategy won’t always work. On the flip side, I remember how they played without James, and the phrase “utterly pathetic” comes to mind.

I think too much of the Cleveland offense revolves around James, and that can be used against them.

by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 7:09 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree with the second part of your comment

I just don’t think we have the personnel to make them pay for it.

Our defense is pretty similar to what the Spurs did to him in the Finals last year. Problem is, we don’t have San Antonio’s personnel.
