Well I’m more optimistic than I was on Monday so I’ll go with the wizards. This team tends to surprise me when I give up on them. Hopefully they will rebound and Caron will show up for a full game.

interesting comment from today's WaPo chat
Michael Lee: Six, sir. It’s a TNT thing. They want to get the Celtics-Hawks on primetime. Who woulda thunk it? The Wizards have played so poorly that they get bumped by the Hawks for primetime. Sad times indeed.
that about sums up my feelings about the wizards play thus far this series.
i hope they turn it around tonight.

Oh snap!
Gilbert out for rest of postseason according to Washington Post Live.
I’m surprised at how surprised I am.
I swear I don’t want to get into this yet, but there’s no way Gil is getting a max contract next season.

I don't think even he expects that now
You can tell.
Hopefully he just doesn’t opt-out.

Eddie had no idea this was coming - he just found out
Man – I’ve been the biggest Gil fan, but this is just stupid. He can’t leave his team in the lurch like this! The dude needs to grow up.

Now that i think about it
I’m sure this has to do with his missed shot and overall poor play last game. Gil, in his weird way, probably decided that the team will be better off w/o him at 75%. Of course, he picks the worst possible time to make the decision. He should have decided that before the playoffs or right after the last game instead of just once again becoming the biggest story that doesn’t have anything to do with the men on the court. I love GIlbert. But he needs to learn how to act like a man. He has a franchise that relies on him, and he just doesn’t get it yet. I hope he does get it someday, and I hope it happens here, but Gil just isn’t making the offseason decisions easy for anybody.
I’m fine with it though – at least we know who is going to battle for us from here on out. Go Wiz!

not surprised gil's shutting down
his p/t was creating havoc with the rotation (even though it provided a brief spark in Game 3). But making this decision before tip-off was kinda bad form.
by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 6:03 PM EDT 0 recs
Too many outside shots
They’re hitting them, but they’re allergic to the rim.
I long for the days of a healthy Gilbert. But everyone’s right, it’s really not okay to not tell your coach that you’re shutting things down. If he’s still here next year (and my guess is he will be, he’s not opting out methinks), he can’t do that.

HOW DISGUSTING IS THIS?
I hope everyone that can is flipping back and forth between the TNT and Comcast. TNT is actually going along with the LeBron acting job. The all-LeBron love fest actually is causing me physical pain. The refs, the announcers… God that’s why we were supposed to win this series. Fuck man. Cmon Wiz, please win this game.
by KDP on Apr 30, 2008 6:29 PM EDT 0 recs
At the same time
That was a pretty dumb play by Songaila.
I have a dream that someone will at least recognize that both sides have been fueling this fire. When Marv said that the Wizards were doing most of the talking, that just did it for me.

It was a total accident though
James in trying to pull his arm away actually caused Songaila’s arm to go into his neck….....LeBron (and the officials) completely overreacted.

A guy seated next to Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert.....
Threw a towel at DeShawn Stevenson…...security started to take him out, but Gilbert negotiated and they let him stay in the arena.
This was on Comcast….not sure if they discussed on TNT as I have the volume down on Reggie Miller’s puberty voice.
by Truth About It on Apr 30, 2008 6:31 PM EDT 0 recs
Certainly wasn't on TNT
I watched the whole game on TNT, so I only heard about it afterwards in Deshawn’s post game interview. If it was some random schmoe, I’d have no problem with it. But it was a buddy of the Cleveland owner, so it’s 100% bush league.

Makes me sick
I can barely watch when the refs call it like this. LeBron PULLED Songaila’s arm into his throat – DS did nothing wrong! And that towel thing is about as low class as you can get.

Of course, I would contest that
LeBron pulled Songaila’s arm into him….at least not intentionally…...but his reaction was classic.
And to think that I kinda thought LeBron James was a decent dude before this series. I don’t think I’ll ever like him again.

I agree KDP
I just logged on to make the same comment. Lebron hooks Darius’s arm, Lebron fake acts and gets the tech call. Comcast shows the replay from the other angle and you can see clearly what happened. I switch over to TNT and Marv Albert is calling it a punch, rambling that he should be ejected. Such BS.
Deshawn needs to shoot the pull up J and Caron better keep abusing Wally.

This was an interesting play
Nick Young attacks the rim with power, athleticsm, and control. I thought he drew a foul on Zydrunus but it turned out good for the Wiz anyway. What was interesting was Cleveland’s reaction (or lack there of) to NY’s drive. They couldn’t handle it. WE NEED MORE OF THIS!

is it really that bad an idea
to play mostly man-to-man, let James get his points, but choke the rest of the Cavs and make them bystanders? Really, who else can create their own shot?
by Pryme on Apr 30, 2008 7:03 PM EDT 0 recs
The problem is twofold
1. Nobody can even limit LeBron on this team.
2. When that happens, LeBron penetrates and dishes, or he just scores. At least this way, we’re forcing the other guys to beat us.

I agree
it’s just that I’ve seen enough Cavs games to know most of these guys can hit an open shot, so the “double LeBron” strategy won’t always work. On the flip side, I remember how they played without James, and the phrase “utterly pathetic” comes to mind.
I think too much of the Cleveland offense revolves around James, and that can be used against them.
