I bet it's probably tied in with fouls

They’re the two best centers, but they’re also foul prone. If you have them both out at the same time, the potential to burn through fouls with both of them on the floor at the same time is a big risk. But that’s just me speculating.

I would agree... however it would be interesting with Gasol on the court...

He’s a finesse player and Blatche could guard Bynum down low with Darius giving him brief spells if need be.

Did the Wizards really hire a coach who last coached at AU, 15 years ago?

Can we talk about a real coach please or give a young guy his shot.

I think Jordan relied more on the vets with the frontcourt where as Tapscott is doing more with the backcourt.

That was fun

I don’t fault Caron for taking the three, we didn’t stand a good chance in OT. That will probably be the most electric game at MCI all year.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Man, the Wiz fought back but still came up short. Great Effort but we still need a new coach and Gil back, sooner, rather than later.

Heckuva effort

There’s no such thing as a good loss, but that was close. Hopefully we’ll still have something left for Chicago tomorrow.

I don’t fault Caron for going for the jugular there. You don’t get many chances to beat a team like the Lakers. If you have a chance to get a win against them, you go for it.

What a comeback

I have no problem with the move by Caron either. If he drives and gets contact with no call, people would have said he should have gone for the 3. Just a great effort and a shame they couldn’t pull it off.

by Matt K. on Dec 5, 2008 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

I gave up in the first quarter

And even blew off their rally in the 2nd. The Lakers didn’t look good tonight.

I can’t even believe that game ended up to be a close one.

by se7en on Dec 5, 2008 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

last play

I’m not happy with Caron’s plays at the end of the first half and of the game. Took too long to to make his move to the basket both times. And he left no time for a possible tip in. Great effort coming back! Just a disappointing final play.

by hotplate on Dec 5, 2008 9:39 PM EST reply actions

no time for a tip in?

If he had made it with time left, the Lakers had a time out and would’ve had another shot. He went for the Gilbert style win and almost did it.

by Aldo on Dec 5, 2008 9:44 PM EST up reply actions

Last Play

I thought it was a great look. We can’t hope for an offensive rebound, nor do you want them to call a timeout with any time on the clock. I agree with the call to go for the 3 at the buzzer- we would have been dominated in OT, the Lakers would have buckled down.

He thought he had a great look. Just softly off the front of the rim.

I’m happy with it.

Angry with Deshawn.

Angry with Tap that Nick Young doesn’t play more… Just about every time Nick touched the ball, something good happened. A good jumper, or he drove and dished…

I think he should start over Deshawn. Deshawn is a liability out there. Nick Young played decent D tonight too.

START NICK YOUNG.

Argh

Why did I turn off the game!

by Fundefined on Dec 5, 2008 9:47 PM EST reply actions

Minutes Watch

Butler and Jamison each played 40 minutes
Daniels played just under 30 minutes
Blatche played 29 minutes
Young and Stevenson each played 24 minutes
Thomas played 14 minutes
Songaila played 12 and a half minutes
McGuire played 10 and a half minutes
McGee played 9 minutes
Brown played 7 minutes

by Jon L on Dec 5, 2008 9:58 PM EST reply actions

I asked Ivan Carter about this in his latest chat

and he said Tapscott said that when Daniels was hurt, so now it’s basically 9 + 2

by Aldo on Dec 5, 2008 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

A rotation

of anything more than 10 players is pretty stupid. I’m on board with 8+2, not 9+2….

by Matt K. on Dec 5, 2008 10:20 PM EST up reply actions

And it was really 9+2 before

Because McGuire was getting consistent burn.

Now it’s 10+2.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

McGee

Should have gotten Etan’s minutes. Etan didn’t do shit. We can’t win unless Etan plays less then five minutes a game.

by zeke5123 on Dec 6, 2008 2:02 AM EST up reply actions

I'm not sure I completely agree

McGee was really, really struggling against Bynum, and despite collecting three fouls and three turnovers, Etan finished with a +4 on the night. Blatche was also playing so well down the stretch that inserting McGee then might’ve hurt.

I would’ve liked to see McGee play more than he did, he just didn’t have it tonight. Maybe it was having his mom in the building and he’ll be better the next game, I dunno.
