Around SBN: Fighters React to Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Caron Butler said in the locker room after the game that he will be getting an MRI done on his left ankle on Wednesday.

The ankle, which remains painful and swollen following the initial injury in which Butler rolled it on Christmas day in Cleveland, is bruised and has a knot on the inside-lower area, just off of the ankle itself.

a long time

Sprained ankles always take longer than expected and Wizards injuries always take longer than expected, so with a Wizards’ sprained ankle, I think we have some exponential action at work here.

this is ok

as long as it is just a sprain, caron should take as long as he needs, plus an extra week or 2, before he comes back.
i have a feeling the only way to get the young guys the most time to develop is if butler and jamison miss time, because coaches will (and should i guess) play their star vets if they are available.

The problem is

Tapscott won’t play the young guys more – hell, I’d be surprised to see McGee for more than 5 minutes – same for Crittenton….. and forget seeing our #1 pick from 2006… uh…good ol’ what’s his name…

We’ll just be “treated” to more of the Veteran backups – with front lines of Thomas, Jamison and Songaila….. (or Blatche, Jamison, Songaila)…. and more of Stevenson (for his “defense” )… and Juan Dixon ( for his ……………uh…………………………….for his…………………..uh…………………. veteran-ness? )

you make a horrifying point

but a legitimate one, i think. i guess i was considering McGuire and Blatche as ‘young guys’ but they are already getting good PT. i’d like to see a lineup of Critttttttenttton, Young, McGuire, Blatch and McGee play for a decent stretch every once and a while.
barring that (won’t happen for reasons you state above) my new years wish is to see Javaris Crittenton get more minutes, and to come up with a nickname for him to is slightly less awkward to say than ‘javaris crittenton’.

Yeah - I can't wait until next year

When Young, McGuire and Pecherov will be considered “veterans”…..

Hopefully the new Head Coach will be award playing time based upon the actual play on the court…. as opposed to the number of years a player has been in the League.
