Agreed
I was really surprised to see him go back to the starters after the bench guys had played so well.

Rome wasnt built in a day/Caron Butler discussion is he a + or -
Soo first here is some eye candy, remember this guy? Hope he comes back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp8G7kVP7JU
Okay on to the real stuff…
Ed Tapscott, I like him.
Dont give time to players who cant play and what happens
1. They rest
2. They play harder to earn minutes
3. They develop as better players
HIs choice to use Dominic and Thomas has siginificantly helped the team it seems.
Mike James is a beast!
OKay anyway I think this line up would be extremely competitive
Gilbert Arenas (January), Mike James, Antawn Jamison, Dominic McGuire, Andrey Blatche
Okay on to CARON:
This is a loose statement so dont boil over and flame me. Maybe someone statistically can support me. Even if Caron scores 20 points I just dont see him benefiting our team when Gil comes back. I love him, he is one of my favorite players hands down BUT the two games i have seen without him the team just plain looks better. Anyone see where Im coming from? Again dont take it the wrong way this is just a loose statement that Im toying with. I mean we may have won the Cleveland game minus Caron’s mistakes (Although I did talk to two Cleveland fans who admitted the refs made extremely biased calls)
Soooooo I feel positive again about our team. We need to pay the way we have the past three games (I consider Cleveland a win, I know im stubborn) We need to maybe keep Caron away? We need Mike James to continue to play well AND WHEN Arenas returns things may change signigficantly.

Really!
Caron it turns out played hurt almost the whole game against Cleveland… and we cannot win consistently without him (or Gil). I love what Taser brings in the glue department but you cannot hide 0 points in 36 minutes (shades of Charles Jones) indefinitely.
All that said, GREAT WIN IN HOUSTON, Guys! And I am sure Mike James is personally psyched to bring down the Hornets… also hope Caron can go tonight, as we need him at the 2 for this one… the Hornets have NOTHING at the 2 and a combined 40 points from Caron and Nicky at that slot could make the difference for us. Let Taser put the clamps on Peja, Antawn play West even… and who knows?

WHAAAAA???
I was going to start the “the team is better without Caron” meme, but it was going to be a JOKE.
Seriously dude, tiiiiny sample size. Teams are better with better players, all else being equal. The Wiz caught the Rockets sleeping tonight, that’s all there is to it.

Taser
This is one of the things that has occurred to me since Taser joined the starting lineup — how much of a contribution a guy can make without scoring. The box score last night shows Taser posting a goose egg in the scoring column on one shot. But he pulled down 8 board, handed out six assists (versus three turnovers, including that awful one with seven seconds left) , blocked four shots and nabbed two steals. (Note: This isn’t a comparison to Caron at all, since no Wizard stuffs the box score as full as CB.)
I imagine there are advanced stats to tell us how valuable Taser’s contributions have been — his plus-minus or his PER, but unlike the whippersnappers who run this joint, I don’t know how to calculate them or where to find them. But I do know that the team has looked WAYYY better the last three games with Taser seeing big minutes than an any other time this season, and we’ve got our first winning streak going. I think there’s real value in having a guy who defends the basket (Taser’s a good helping shotblocker as well as a solid on-ball defender) and does little things on offense like getting extra possessions and finding the open man.

Your comments about Butler
are absurd.
I promise not to flame you personally, but your statements are idiotic.
If there was stronger language I could use and still convey a sense of politeness I would.

Yikes
I don’t agree, Butler is a gamer. If anything, the team played harder when he was out because they knew they are twice as screwed without him. If anything, I finally saw the bench players gel together as a cohesive unit and play like professional basketball players and not JV scrubs.
Thomas, Songalia, and Blatche did a great job on mauling Yao tonight, who was not getting the superstar calls that one might expect. As Jamison said after the game, its all about effort at this point, they might not win a lot, but if they can provide consistent high effort, then they can hold their heads up. The one solace to take is when the Caps were woeful three or four seasons ago, no one wanted to play them because they gave a hard effort night in and night out. They lost (a ton) but a least they were respected. I would at least like to hear other teams saying that they don’t want to play the Wizards because they have to work twice as hard.
Its always Roger Mason (Jr.) time!

One of the greatest things about Antawn
He steps up his game when he needs to. He defers more when he can.
He can carry the load for a game or a few games, but let’s not contemplate a season of that.
What you’d get would be the playoffs from 06-07—amazing games by AJ but all losses.

Caron just needs to stop trying to do too much....
And we know he is capable of this…..Caron is a great team player just like Jamison.
However, the losing has clearly worn him down.
And I’m not saying that he’s gone away from play team ball, but perhaps he needs to solidify his trust in others, just as they need to build his confidence in them.
But good lord, for anyone to insinuate that the team is better without him…..sheer silliness.

Seriously
Is a 53-game win streak to much to ask for?

Heh. Math
I guess it would have to be a 55-gamer to get us to 59-23 — but we only need 53 more!
