My Response to Mike James
I watched most of the game last night, and I saw every minute that Mike James was on the floor. In honor of this classic scene from Billy Madison, here is my response to Mike James's performance.
Mr. James,
What you just did ... was one of the most insanely idiotic basketball performances I have ever witnessed. At no point in your sloppy, ineffective time on the court were you even close to anything that can be considered a respectable basketball play. Everyone in the arena last night is now a worse basketball player for having witnessed it. I award you no respect, and my God have mercy on your soul.

If missing shots is cool
Then consider him Miles Davis.
But in seriousness, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a couple of weeks while he learns the offense. I get the feeling he won’t get much better once he knows the offense better, but if I’m going to give that benefit of the doubt to Crittenton, I’ll give it to James as well. If he doesn’t pan out, I think we’ll be using this video a lot.

To Paraphrase Mark Twain
but if I’m going to give that benefit of the doubt to Crittenton, I’ll give it to James as well.
It is better to not attempt a shot and let people think you can’t shoot, then to launch the ball and remove all doubt. Javaris played poorly, but at least he was trying to create for his teammates. Mike Jones looked like a ball hog in every sense of the moniker.

What I Said
Because we’ve seen a lot of bad basketball, but his takes the cake. It deserved a special statement, IMO.

Borrowing Prada's Comments on Mike James
Because I think they say a lot:
If it’s even possible
Mike James is 100 times worse than I even thought he was.
How bad did Prada previously think he was?
It’s foolhearty to expect Mike James to be any good for us. He hasn’t been any good since 2005/06, and he wasn’t any good before then. He’s definitely not as good as even an injured and washed-up Antonio Daniels.
and then there was this:
You’re right
Mike James stinks. He really, really, really stinks.
Is it possible to get 100 times worse than that? After watching him play last night, the answer is yes.

But
Mike James was a throw in to the trade – to make the salaries work….
The player Ernie Grunfeld wanted was Jaravis Crittenton.
The Wiz couldn’t just trade a pick for Crittenton because they’re over the salary cap….
The Grizzlies didn’t want any players back.
SO…… a third team had to be involved…
New Orleans was looking for a way to get rid of James – and Daniels was not doing much for the Wizards this year…. James and Daniels’ contracts expire at the same time; so the Wizards can STILL trade his expiring contract (along with Etan Thomas) either at the trading deadline this year, or next year when all those teams will be looking to dump salary before 2010.
Worst case scenario – Mike James plays a lot, and stinks really bad – helping the Wizards to a very poor record this year – MORE PING PONG BALLS.
Best case scenario – Tapscott nails James’ shorts to the end of the bench and Ernie G. trades him and the Poet for something good at the trade deadline…

I Understand All of This

I know. I was one of the people explaining this to others. But I still found his notorious performance worthy to be commented on.
Best case scenario – Tapscott nails James’ shorts to the end of the bench and Ernie G. trades him and the Poet for something good at the trade deadline…
Closer to the point I was trying to make. An even better case scenario – Ernie inactivates Mike James and activates OPech until Gil comes back. In two months, right before the trade deadline, his butt gets packaged out of town. Hopefully the Poet gets included, as you suggested. And if DeShawn doesn’t improve real soon, I’d like to see Ernie figure out a way to get him out of town as well.

Great!!!
This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest threads ever! A Billy Madison Video, a Miles Davis reference, 2 Mark Twain paraphrases, a series of quotes showing the brilliance of Pradamaster, and a great Mike James youtube interview explaining how his 5 for 25 performance was all about leadership! It doesn’t get better than this.
And I second the idea of activating Pech.

Just so we're clear
The Miles Davis reference is in fact, a Billy Madison reference.
GOO!
