The Wizards, Grizzlies & Hornets weren't the only teams wheeling and dealing today
The Suns and the Bobcats made a little swapperoo today as well.
Phoenix gets:
Jason Richardson & Jared Dudley [EDIT - And they get a 2nd round pick in 2010.]
Charlotte gets:
Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, and Sean Singletary
This deal, together with Charlotte's potential addition of Juwan Howard should make the Bobcats a contender for years to come, proving that Michael Jordan truly is clearly the greatest GM of our time.
Also, I'm pretty sure that this is the fourth team that Sean Singletary has been a member of since he was drafted back in June. At this rate, he'll be a Wizard twice before the end of the season.
This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

Wow
That’s a ridiculously dumb trade for Charlotte. Yay, let’s trade a still-productive shooting guard and a diamond-in-the-rough prospect for a big softee that’s on the hook for four more years (!) and a washed-up shooting guard on the hook for two more.
Charlotte now is committed to Emeka Okafor, Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw and Matt Carroll for the next four years. Hooray mediocrity!
How could Phoenix not do this deal?
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
True dat
And I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Gerald Wallace is still on the block and he’ll probably end moved in another awful deal.

What do you think about Wallace on the Wiz?
I’ve been thinking about how to swipe him for awhile, but I’m not sure if he would fit in here.

I think he'd fit great
Perfect dude to move Caron to the 2. Not in love with his shot, but Caron’s improved range makes it worth doing.
Not enthused about Gerald’s contract though.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
I'd love to see him here
But I don’t think we have the pieces to make a deal, unless we just traded Jamison straight up for him.
Would I do that trade? Maybe. Wallace is younger and better defensively (thought he’s better at guarding small forwards than power forwards) but he does have a history of injuries, which would fit in well here, but not in the way that any of us would like. My gut tells me that it’s probably a good deal (and Charlotte would probably do it, because they can never have too many Tar Heels) but it would be a very tough call.

Not sure I agree
But I don’t think we have the pieces to make a deal, unless we just traded Jamison straight up for him.
Once Charlotte starts to suck and decides to look towards 2010, I’d bet we could nab Wallace for something like Etan’s expiring deal, Songaila and Critt/Pech/D-Mac. We might need to take someone back to match salaries, but that strikes me as pretty reasonable.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Exactly... but
I would try to snag him in a salary dump. He’s talented, but he’s not a great player, and Charlotte might want to play the 2010 sweepstakes.
However, I’m not convinced he would fit on the team. He’s too small to start at the 4, and I have doubts about his ability to play the 2 guard. He’s not a shooter, and I’m not sure how comfortable he is guarding SGs on other teams. I’m sure he can gamble for steals with the best of them, but if he’s always on the perimeter we lose some of his blocking/rebounding down low. Yeah, of course he’s an upgrade over D-Steve, but at 9 mil a year to play out of position? In the end I do the trade because of his talent – I just don’t like him playing any position other than the 3 with regularity, which means he has to come off the bench. Meh.

Oops.
I just realized that you suggested moving Caron to the 2, not Wallace. However, I don’t like Caron at the 2 much more than Wallace. Caron’s not a good defender against guards at all – and while he is a very well-rounded scorer, he doesn’t drive enough. Also, he seems a little bothered by quick pesky defenders, which he would face at SG.

They'd be interchangable
Wallace could guard the 2s you speak of, leaving Caron to guard 3s.
Offensively, Caron would be the 2.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Guess that could work
But I’d rather have Wallace closer to the basket where he can protect the rim and grab boards. I wouldn’t give up anything other than expiring contracts to get him – if Charlotte wants any of the Blatche/McGee/NY group then I say no.

Oh for sure
I’m not trading one of those three for Gerald. Three years ago, maybe, but not now.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Awful, just awful.
Wow. What were the Bobcats thinking?
The Washington Wizards: providing career scoring nights for unknown opposing bench players since 2004.
jordan
does anyone else get the feeling that jordan just has a giant bet with some friends of his to see how many awful moves he can make while relying on his reputation as a player before he gets run out of town?
It's such a shame
because J-Rich would have dominated under a Mike D’antoni- Steve Nash reign. I miss the old Suns.
Of course Avery Johnson like this trade
for Charlotte?
The more and more I listen to him, the more I understand why he was chased out of Dallas.

My only problem with this deal for Phoenix
Is who is the backup for Steve Nash now?

Anyone see TNT Break Down This Trade Last Night?
Barkley and Smith took the exact opposite view of this thread. They both said that this deal was way better for Charlotte than it was for the Suns. Barkley praised Bell and Diaw while questioning J-Rich’s potential role on the Suns, saying “there’s only one ball”. Any thoughts on this?

I kinda get what they're saying
I’m not sure that Richardson will fit in with the Suns, partly because I’m not sure the Suns know where they’re going in terms of identity. But this trade sure doesn’t work for the Bobcats. Bell isn’t getting younger and Diaw is still getting paid $9 million for the next three years and he’s currently averaging 8 points and 4 boards per game and I can’t see how he’ll mesh with Larry Brown at all.
Where the Washington-Memphis-New Orleans trade might end up being the right deal for all three sides, the Phoenix-Charlotte deal might end up leaving both teams worse than they were before.
