First time in a while that I’ve been excited for the Wizards game, hope they don’t let me down…

Hope the Wiz have a decent crowd in

Hate to see rows and rows of empty seats on national TV. Could we be about to experience the feeling of a winning streak?

McGee has been compared to Howard by some

Dwight is giving him a look at what the real thing looks like.

Nope no winning streak this game

We’re going to start another losing streak actually. It’s one of those games… sigh!

This just in from Gilbert

I’m past my prime!

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

He may speak his mind – but you never heard that comment BEFORE he signed that big contract…

Not a good game to be at either-

There was a really obnoxious orlando fan sitting behind me screaming all game. I wanted to throw him off the railing. I also forgot JJ Redick was on this team. At the end of the game, a group of fans started chanting for Eddie Jordan

Yeah, That Was an Ugly One

I expected a little better execution than I saw, though I figured they would lose this one. This will certainly be fodder for the Eddie Jordan defenders, like those group of fans you heard and Charles Barkley.

Personally, I think that if Eddie was still the coach the Wizards would have lost this game by 25 instead of 15, and would have gone 1-12 instead of 2-11. I think the most telling sound bite was from Gilbert Arenas:

We all played well for Eddie, you know, um, most of us feel Eddie didn’t deserve it because he did take us to the promised land four years straight. And, um, you know unfortunately he didn’t have the whole team.

The young guys apparently stopped responding to EJ. Hopefully, they’ll respond better to ET and bounce back. The big test will be against Atlanta on Saturday. Unlike tonight’s game, that game is very winnable, and I’m interested to see what will happen with Blatche. He had a bad game, mostly, I believe, because he could never get into a rhythm due to the foul trouble he kept getting in. It will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets on Saturday. If EJ were still the coach, I could easily predict like 7 minutes as punishment for his poor play.

Matters were made worse because JaVale McGee also got in foul trouble. ET was forced to resort to Etan, but later realized that was a disaster and went with Songaila at center instead. At least ET only put Songaila there as a last resort. This lineup just doesn’t have an answer for a guy like Dwight Howard. Not without Brendan Haywood, that is. Luckily, few teams have such a dominant center like Dwight Howard.

Gilbert sounded like he gave his endorsement to ET, so that’s a good thing. I’m still optimistic that this season can be salvaged. If they can play just one game over .500 for the rest of the season, they would be 37-45, the same record the Atlanta Hawks had last year when they snuck into the playoffs. I think that is very possible. And with a healthy Gilbert and Brendan, they could give the Celtics or Magic (or hopefully not the Cavs) a good run for their money.

are you sure

ga didn’t mean that ej didn’t have the whole team HEALTHY?

by DarrellWalkerFan on Nov 28, 2008 10:38 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Pretty Sure

Mike Fratello commented on what Gilbert said by saying that he had talked with other team sources and discovered that the young guys just weren’t responding to Eddie Jordan’s criticism. This would correspond to the comments Jamison made about Blatche. Plus, his context was about paying ET the same respect as EJ, and that “most of us” felt EJ didn’t deserve it. This clearly implied to me that some did feel he deserved it.

Analysis...

…it looked like Dwight wasn’t even trying hard. He hardly broke a sweat.

…AD is bad for the team. Anybody notice how demotivated NY was everytime AD would drive to the hoop and flail instead of kicking it out?

…Dee Brown. I don’t know what to say. Cool head band. Give me Haywoode Workman any day over AD or Dee.

…Caron — he wants out.

Gilbert – 2005 was his prime. (which is why we saved $13MM on his contract in 2008.

Javale — love the kid. he is trying.

Blatche —i will say something positive about him. 5 bounds in 12 minutes so his line really should be 20 rebs if he had not fouled out.

man I’m frustrated with this team….

Caron

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, that he must want out. But the other day he said he wants to retire in DC. I wonder if he still feels that way??

by gbkdc on Nov 28, 2008 10:52 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He wants out?

Where exactly does one get that idea?

I know Caron was a big EJ fan, because EJ made him into an all-star, but he’ll be fine.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Yeah

I also would like a reference to this sentiment. I hope that is not the case.

I Agree

I only wish Songaila was three inches taller and about 20 pounds heavier. He could be a capable center if he was.
