"This was an extremely difficult decision because I'm personally very fond of Eddie. He helped bring our franchise back to the playoffs and became engrained in the Washington, D.C., community. I will forever be grateful for his dedication and hard work. However, sometimes circumstances force changes. Our team is not performing to my expectations and I felt it was time to make a change. We wish Eddie and his family all the best."
Abe Pollin on Eddie Jordan's firing. I think Abe captured the sentiment of most Wizards fans very well.
Ernie Grunfeld had this to say on the firing: "Our 1-10 record is not acceptable and, more importantly, the way we have lost those games is not acceptable. We felt as an organization that it was time to make a change and were looking forward to the team moving in a positive direction."

Just to clarify
By saying that Abe did a good job of capturing the sentiment of Wizards fans isn’t to say that Ernie Grunfeld did a poor job of capturing it.

I started reading the main quote thinking it was Ernie
Then I read that it was Abe and it made much more sense to me. Then I read what Ernie said, and everything clicked.
