Nothing is missing; guys have just got to take pride in what they're doing. I can take guys playing hard for 48 minutes and the other team finding a way to get it done, but we've got to have some pride. To let them play as physical as they did and outrebound us the way they did ... that's not what this team is all about.
So, nothing is missing - guys just aren't doing it. Nothing is missing at all - and that comes not from the coaches, not from the front office. I have to get these guys to play night in and night out.

So.........is AJ talking about someone specifically? Is he doing the noble thing and falling on the sword? Is he trying to deflect from Eddie Jordan? Who (what player) might he be talking about?
What? Who? Huh? What? Que?

Typical AJ
Angry because the team isn’t good, angry that he’s spent his entire career playing for bad to mediocre teams and he doesn’t have much time left, but not sure/not willing to point the finger at any one person or thing.
I think he’s just frustrated in general and is going on a rant.

Do you think
he should single somebody out? Who?
Sounds like he’s blaming everybody. All the players, at least. Not blaming the coach or the GM. Seems like he’s manning up to me, trying to take some heat off EJ.

Well, no
I don’t think he should do it any other way. It’s just impossible to tell to whom this is directed.

I think
to preserve team unity, he is not singling anyone out. If he did I imagine it would be Thomas, Stevenson and Blatche.
I think the entire purpose of this is to take the heat of EJ, since other than that he’s just repeating what he said before.

I also think
It’s a really confusing quote in general. I’m surprised the Times ran it like that.

Damon Jones?
Damon Jones would be a guy that could breathe some life into a Wizards team that seems to be doggin it this season. It would be great if the Wiz could acquire the former loudmouth jester of our rival Cavaliers.
From Canton Rep newspaper:
"Where’s Damon? Milwaukee lists Damon Jones as inactive. However, the former Cavs guard and the Bucks actually parted ways before training camp began. By mutual decision, the Bucks are allowing Jones to work out on his own in preparation to play with another NBA team. He was sent to Milwaukee in the trade that brought Williams to Cleveland. "

um
valiant… but misguided – there’s a lot missing AJ… and if you (and caron) are smart, you’ll focus on being patient in the short term, playing as a team, and bringing the young guys along in the right way, even if that means you don’t grind out wins right away.

That about says it...
provided the young guys are inserted in the lineup in the right way and that is EJ’s call.

shut up and play
he needs to shut up and play. discuss the team within each other, not out in public, a GOOD leader would know that.
