OT: World Series Predictions

I just want to make one thing clear before I say anything: I can't stand the Phillies.  I can't stand the way people fawn over Chase Utley, I can't stand the way they their fans swarm Nationals Park , and I can't stand Ryan Howard's Subway commercial.  They're not my least favorite team (Howdy Mets!) but they're up there.

With that said, even though I'll be rooting for the Rays in the series, I've got the Phillies winning in 5.  I think Tampa will hit the same funk that Detroit and Colorado hit in previous years and the Phillies will wrap it up before it heads back to Florida.

And no, this doesn't mean I'm not watching the Wizards-Spurs game tonight, it just means I'll have something to switch to during commercials.

This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

Rays in 6.

That funk that Tampa is supposed to hit only affects teams that had time off before the World Series. That would mean the Phils are getting it.

The preseason game on CSN tonight?

That's true, HOWEVA

I don’t think the Phillies weren’t necessarily on a hot streak in the same way the Tigers and Rockies were, even though they wrapped up the series early like they did. So I they’re less prone to flop in this series. On the other hand, the Rays offense was on a tear in the ALCS and could come back to earth, but you could argue that Boston’s Game 5 comeback worked as a preemptive slumpbuster.

Of course, all of this is purely anecdotal, which demonstrates the depth of my baseball knowledge.

And yes, the game is on CSN tonight at 8:30.

Tampa

They made me a believer by holding off the Red Sox and the Yanks all year long… Everyone kept waiting for them to fold.

Lots of folks think the Phillies have better starting pitching – but I disagree… I like Kazmir over Hamels tonight and I like Shields over Myers in the 2nd game. And then, unless Jamie Moyer comes up with a miracle, I like Tampa in game 3…. Blanton will win game 4… but then it’s back to Kazmir again in game 5 in Philly. The Pitching matchups just set up right for the Rays. Shields will close it out in TB in game 6.

btw

I’m assuming that the Rays will lose 2 of 3 in Philly, even though I think the pitching matchups favor Tampa.

That's what makes predicting it fun!

If you guess right, it’s like winning the lottery! (Without the financial benefits.)
